<p>With an 87 HS average, you should be ok at many of the University-Colleges in the SUNY system, with the obvious exception of Geneseo. <p>I got into CMU, JHU, Rice (alma mater now) and a bunch more with an 82 average. It was the second highest grade. my school just gave people low scores.</p>
<p>I got a 1760 on my SAT the first time but I’m retaking it this fall after taking an SAT class and studying hard. 620, 520, 620. I’m the exact middle of my class. 101 of 202 lmao.</p>
<p>I would forget SUNY Geneseo, Binghamton and maybe some of the more competitive smaller ones… UBuff might also be out of reach. UAlbany and Stony Brook could work for you. Ithaca College is also good (not the journalism school there though).</p>

<p>Miami of Ohio, U of Kansas, DePaul, Auburn, Alabama, South Carolina, Oklahoma, LSU, Maine, Ohio U., Kentucky, Scranton, Washington and Jefferson, Susquehanna, Hartwick, Seton Hall, Clark.</p>
<p>^^All of which are OOS, annd most are OOS public U’s; hence all the schools on this list may be way too expensive for the OP financially.</p>

<p>Dude, New Paltz is not a reach.The people with better stats were waitlisted most likely because New Paltz probably figured they weren’t going to enroll anyway since it isn’t that great of a school. It’s a matter of yield protection in some sense.</p>
<p>Even though New Paltz looks for slightly higher stats, definitely apply. New Paltz is a much more competitive school than it used to be, so the old reputation no longer applies.</p>
