'The Biggest Loser' -- anyone watch?

This is my guilty pleasure, I really root for these folks. I can’t watch it very often when it’s on, I follow on hulu.

This season, I think all the guys are nice people, and I like Allen, his personality and everything. I think Rebecca is adorable. I really hope Shay wins, but I think she will get the boot, but maybe will come back like Daniel.

Who do you like on the show? What do you think of the trainers?

I love The Biggest Loser. Watch it with a girlfriend every Tuesday night, while we eat snacks. Something wrong with that picture, but whatever. I am so glad that Tracey was kicked off last week - can’t believe they didn’t do it the first chance they got. Sometimes we make fun of Jullian and the crazy things she says…we laugh alot while we watch it. I have a tiny crush on Bob. I believe the dark haired girl that wears the heavy eyeliner is now dating Daniel. Just a little scoop…

I watch occasionally, and I root for everyone on that show. It makes me want to run in the rain and work hard with my weights (although I’m “height-weight proportional” and currently have no interest in losing any weight).

Makes me feel slender  Guilty pleasure which I sneak a peek at once in a while. I always wish that it wasnt’ a COMPETITION, though. I mean, why can’t they just have these folks work together for a set period of time to lose weight? They all end up winners in great shape. Less drama, and much nicer to watch!

The rain is over, gotta kick the dog out of the house and go for a run!!!

I agree - they all are winners (and they all have a common goal!). But for some folks, the motivation to lose weight might not be as stong without the competition for the big prize at the end of the road. Kind of reaching the ultimate carrot on a stick before everyone else does:) I wish they all were declared winners and awarded smaller prizes in the amount depending on the weight loss %.

I agree with you guys, I wish it weren’t a competition. I think some of those decisions Tracey made early on really hurt her, and there was no way she could come back from that. She did have kinda loco eyes, and I think there was some interesting compulsiveness in the way she acted, but she had 4 kids, and I wonder how they will feel as they get older and watch their mom on the show.

Another thing I don’t like is they cry about EVERYthing! Remember last season, Helen crying over the baked goods in the supermarket? I went – oh, come ON.

There’s a lot of repetition in the show set-up. You can kinda skip through it (on hulu) and still get it all.

I’m not sure I’d be able to work with Jillian – she’s really in-your-face like Amanda said. That would just make me freeze up. Bob, I agree eddieodessa, is a cutie-pie. It would be great they brought back some of the winners from previous seasons as apprentice trainers, don’t you guys agree?

I love it when they give healthy eating and training tips. I wish they would do an episode where they take you through an entire day, the training and diet, and show you what they actually eat, how much and how it’s prepared. But I guess you have to buy their books and merch for that!

Do they ever revisit previous winners to see whether they kept the weight off? (I don’t watch the show or have an opinion about it; I’m just curious about how successful they are).

There is a reunion show with 40 former contestants airing on November 25th. It will be interesting to see how many have actually maintained their weight.

^^Good. That’s the day before Thanksgiving, so it might inspire people who watch to go easy at the big feast the next day.

^^ Ha ha, right, coureur! Only I will still have all the pie I want.

Ready to go out and rake leaves now! Yard work (the old way) is the best workout imaginable.

Well, I know Julio has, although he was kicked of a few weeks ago. I know this because his wife works in our office ;)

When they are kicked off, the show continues to provide a support system (I think they have access to nutritional and personal training consultations at their home gym of choice), although obviously not on the same par as being on the ranch.

I think in one of the past seasons, one of the at home contestants actually lost more weight than the winner. Since she had been sent home already, she wasn’t eligible for the title of Biggest Loser and the monetary prize, but she did win a good chunk of change for being the winning at home contestant. I can’t remember the names.

Is Allison Sweeney, the blond emcee, pregnant? She seems to have put on a little weight since the show started.

DougBetsy - Allison Sweeney just had her second baby in January.

Not surprised to see Daniel go home. He looked pretty good on The Jay Leno Show that night.

What was really sad was his visit with his former partner. He’s going to lose weight “some day” when he really “feels the unhealthy.” I don’t remember the exact quote there, but that was the gist.

Anybody watching season 9?

I’m watching but the cast of Losers this season just isn’t grabbing me. My only reaction so far is that if I were being weighed, I’d take off the 5 lb. gold chain from around my neck!

Vitrac: LOL – I said the same thing! And every season, the big earrings some of the girls wear.

And I said, if I were waiting for the weigh-in I’d be using the opportunity (and nervous energy) to do jumping-jacks – my D snickered at me for saying that.

What I think is that some of these Season 9 people are going to be really good-looking with some weight off. Like Mr. Gold Chain – the heaviest guy ever, he’s going to be a knock-out.

I can’t wait 'til the Red Team goes. Yech, as my D said “He’s a creeper.”

AnudduhMom–I don’t know the colors. Who is red? I know Gold Chain Team, Redneck Team,Ugly Twin Team, etc. There was an article in the NYTimes about how there is some definitely unhealthy stuff going on the nite before the weigh ins. Plus, before Week 1, they are pigging out big time! Last year was the best–rooting for the woman whose family died in the car accident and the huge African American woman with the difficult childhood and of course hoping Tracy would drop dead on the treadmill!

OMG, Vitrac, you are hilarious. I think the Redneck team IS the Red Team!! The wife has a big, huge mouth, and the husband was leching after the host, Alison.

Yeh, in my house we think it’s funny that they are so “surprised” when they get called at home, my D goes – “and the cameras? They didn’t notice that there were cameras in their house when they got called to join the show?”

Last season WAS good in terms of ‘people you love to despise’ like Kah-RAY-zy Tracy. Really, her kids seemed sweet, I felt sorry for them. And Rudy, the sadistic butcher (or at least that’s what I think he looked like), the way he double-crossed everyone. I did like Shay, though. She is doing clips (I watch the show on hulu) and she’s become something of a fitness obsessive. I think they will bring her back like they did Daniel.

I can’t believe they got another Tongan team – I mean how many Tongans can there be in the U.S.? And they say – it’s our culture that makes us fat. And the Puerto Rican Ladies team said – it’s our culture that makes us fat. The Italian (Gold Chain) Team – it’s our culture that makes us fat. Last season, the winner, the uber-annoying Helen was Polish, and she said – it’s our culture that makes us fat. Maybe that’s why so many Americans are obese – too much culture!! (just kidding)

ROTFL, “The Ugly Twin Team”, aren’t they fascinating? One shifts his feet to the left, the other shifts just the same. They are like…CG characters or something. I’m just sorry one of them left. The other one will want to leave too. The one who left has a baby and a really cute wife. It is just hard to imagine…

Well, this has been a fun snark-fest for a Saturday morning!
