<p>So I found this website when I “googled” a scholarship that my teacher wanted me to reply to… It seems that the people here are really good at predicting someones chances in the college admission process… Although I know that no one can “really” know where they will get in when it comes to some of the best colleges in the nation… could you at least try me…</p>

Class Rank : 1/ 820
GPA W: 4.6 UW: 3.94
SAT: n/a
SAT Subject test: 680 Biology E Taking Math 2 and Physics- expecting over 700… I took both during October and scored a 650 so I have really been studying to raise my score.
ACT: 32 hopefully a 33 but the October ACT was really difficult to me</p>

<p>Clubs:
President of: german Club and Science National Honor Society and Culture group that acts as a service organization.
Mentor for middle school students
Assitant debate coach for middle school students
Active in local Habitat for Humanity and Red Cross</p>

<p>Awards:
AP Scholar with Distinction
National Achievement Semi- finalist
Questbridge College Prep Winner
Nationally ranked in debate
2- time national qulifier for speech and debate
Qualifed in five events at state tournament last year
A slew of speech and debate awards
district science fair champion in biology
alternate to state in science fair in 9th grade
3rd in a national speech contest</p>

<p>Quirks:
I wouldnt say that I am poor because I dont feel that I am poor but rather lower middle class. My father takes care of my whole family which includes my brother and sister and two young cousins. I have taken on the responsibilities of taking care of my cousins because their father died and they now live with us…</p>

<p>Problem in applicaton:
only two years of foreign language- but I speak two other languages( native languages)
grades show a slight slip in grades in Ap Physics and Calculus… Im aiming for high B’s.</p>

<p>Colleges:
I Love Rice: that is my number one college and I know I want to go into the medical field so it seems to be the perfect place for me to go if I was accepted. I would turn down any school for Rice.</p>

<p>It sounds like you have a shot – you should definitely apply. Your ACT score is OK and your ECs and awards sound pretty good. Remain focused and concentrate on a solid application, with essays that give the reader insight to your personality.</p>

Probably affirmative action; I am pretty sure all top colleges are practice AA.</p>

<p>Rice is AA… so I dunno what he meant by that. Rice is an equal opportunty Affirmative Action Insitutue or something to that regard</p>

<p>BUT, that aside, your EC’s are strong and you have a good ACT and great rank and scores. If you get good rec’s and ensure that your essays are strong, you will almost certainly get in</p>

<p>Rice is Affirmative Action in that it more aggressively recruits underrepresented minorities, but it does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, or sexual orientation.</p>

<p>At least that’s the stated policy.</p>

<p>My ACT scores stayed the same 32… I dont think that I am going to retake it though … just thought I’d put that out there to see if that affects anyones perception of my chances. </p>

<p>I’d say GREAT chances of getting in, URM, #1 in class, very good ECs, test scores could be a bit better, but should be good enough for Rice.</p>

The only thing that might hurt you a bit is subpar SAT II, but overall your chance for Rice is very high.</p>
