Is The Bishop’s School in La Jolla an excellent school? Could you please include details as to why or why not?

The Bishop’s School is one of the renowned schools of the West Coast, and certainly the most reputable in San Diego.

Bishop’s athletics are some of the best in the state. Last Year, The Bishop’s School Football Team were California State Champions in their division. Much of the senior class ('11) water polo team received full scholarships to the universities they attend (UCSD, Fordham, Princeton…) The current Water Polo captain received full scholarship to Harvard. The school also has an excellent range of individual sports, such as nationally ranked Squash players (I know…Squash), Tennis Players, and Golfers.

In addition to the wide expanse of athletics, The Bishop’s School is also one of the most competitive academic schools in the city, as Academic League and Quiz Bowl champions, and having several USAMO qualifiers. The mathematics department at Bishop’s is one of the best, as they have a special series working with Exeter Problem Sets. The mathematics spectrum include Calculus AB/BC/D, Multivariable Calculus, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, and Discrete Mathematics.

But the Bishop’s School excels in community and community service. There are many private schools that will give you a good education, but the community here at Bishop’s is spectacular. The teachers (and even students) are willing to tutor you after school, or even talk to you and have conversations with you.
