S21 got the Jane Street Internship. What a great way to see NYC and the East Coast while spending the summer working on technology with some really smart and driven people.
Excellent! Congratulations!!!
What a treat! Our D brought her iPad with her for the weekend and she shared all the cool costume designs she’s working on…to whet your appetite…no pics tho, until they’re worn or released publicly…Lady Gaga (a childhood dream to design something for her!); 2 wedding dresses and a wedding suit (for the bride) for the reception (can’t say who tho…until they go public); John Malkovich for a film; Demi Lovato is back for a third time; and the one we’re most excited about Superbowl 1/2 time show backup dancers! She’s busy! And loving every second.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - support and encourage your creatives!
Come back and tell us who the bride is when you’re able to do that!!
S22 recently ended his 3rd semester at Cal, and finally got a B+ after accumulating 75 units towards graduation (120 to graduate) - in the process blowing away all my concerns about workload/academic rigor. He has all As with one B+ and just scored his superday invite to a bulge bracket bank. All in all, not a bad way to end 2023.
I am so proud of D23! She got a 4.0 first semester at Penn, taking a ridiculous courseload, including an honors stem course that upperclassmen say is the hardest in the department, and earning a very positive comment on “your brilliance “ from a different prof. Even when she thought she was getting some Bs (she never realistically assesses herself), she commented on her love of the supportive peers, challenging profs, and fun time with clubs. She dove in and ended up elected to a leadership board of one club, after a successful fall. Her maturity and ability to adapt are amazing to me, and the 4.0 is the icing on top.
I love the brags on our children’s achievements. They are the ones we’re leaving this world to, and our world needs these bright, talented kids so badly.
This is not so much a brag, but a milestone.
Just sent in the final tuition/room/board payment for our youngest child. All done with paying for college.
@hebegebe when we did the same, I told my husband it was like winning the lottery game “win for life”. In that game, you won $50,000 for the rest of your life…
D2 is being interviewed by a local major network TV news program in her city as the local expert in her medical subspecialty.
Ah, the good old days when tuition/room/board was only $50K per year.
Well, we changed paying tuition to gifting money to the kids…… Rather watch them enjoy it now than when we are toes up.
Ds2 just told me that he’s going to get his first album cut from another artist. She’s not a huge name, but she has songs with hundreds of thousands of streams and she’s opened shows for some big names so that’s exciting!
That’s great!
My H knows all the words AND the dance moves to the Jardienz commercial. It’s quite impressive to see. ![]()
So do I, but I am currently prohibited from singing and dancing to it in my house. ![]()
I love how divisive this commercial is. I love it, and my sister hates it.
ETA: I read an interview with the actress, and she said that they had to cut a lot of the dance scene with the grocer (or is he a mail carrier?) because they thought it got too raunchy!
@Youdon_tsay Was that the WaPo article? The actor in the lead role sounds like a HOOT!
I think so.
Son just passed his NAVLE (North American Veterinary Licensing Examination) with a pretty high score! Now we know for sure he will be a Dr. come May. Just waiting now for the Match for a Small Animal Rotating position! We are very proud of him!
