Ooh, a dress my D designed for singer Megan Moroney landed on Fallon last night. She wasn’t even sure what the dress was for.
Megan is in her pink era! Cute!
Son came in 1st in one of his bike races this weekend. He was in the top 3rd of the higher level race. So next time he will do the harder level and the level above that.
Son, doing specialty veterinary internship/residency in his first of 4 years, was formally offered a tenure track job by his university for when he is board certified. They will hold the position for the next two years when he will need to make his decision. If he decides to take it they will double his salery for his final year of residency. He is considering it and is very flattered. He is only the second person they have done this for!
future doctor son was accepted to johns hopkins som. high stats low volunteer hours. also interviewed at hms and upenn but unable at stanford or ucsf. cali lost out. so proud but relieved for him in completing his rookie cycle.

I’m so proud of my D! She just received her MCAT scores and they are in the 93rd %. So she is done with that and now on to the application season. ![]()
Amazing! Congratulations to her ![]()
I am on a layover right now, on my way to Botswana - solo! Not a group trip. Yay for me! I am a world traveler but usually with others. My husband can not tolerate all of the flying to get there anymore ( 4 flights plus a helicopter, to start). Friends can not afford it or they are just those I do not want to travel remotely with for 2 weeks. Ready to feel empowered and take care of me again. “This girl is on fire!”
For anyone following along with son’s racing, they canceled the 2 races that were supposed to happen this last weekend. He was kind of bummed ![]()
My daughter won a company-wide award - The President’s Award for Collaboration & Partnership. She works very hard and this is lovely recognition. They will have a formal award ceremony. (And she found out today on her birthday!)
D that got PhD last year will be teaching as a visiting professor in religion for next year or two at college commuting distance from where she and boyfriend currently live.
Yesterday, I, a person in their 60s, and a young vet, a woman who was smaller than me, got a 1,100 pound horse rolled over and up all by ourselves*.
Members of the Fire Dept were standing by, but we didn’t need them. ![]()
*(it takes some physical strength)
I get to brag on my son again. Another bike race - 3rd place. Seems like he’s doing pretty well given this is his first racing season. And more importantly, he’s having a great time. It does cost a fair amount, especially when they go to out of town events.
For the overall event, son came in 2nd. After Saturday it looked like he might win, but “stuff happens.”
Congrats to him despite not finishing first! Amazing achievement!
Today was my second time playing mahjong, and I won two of the three hands!
First time son taught a law school class as an adjunct law professor. Was observed and rated in 20 separate categories by dept. chair and received the top score in all 20 categories. Then received an offer to write a chapter in the observer’s upcoming law textbook/casebook.
D23 got the news yesterday that she is receiving the department-head named award for her upcoming senior year at UPenn, for her academic excellence, research, and impact. It is not only a huge honor but also carries a departmental stipend. The award will be presented next spring prior to graduation but is awarded now due to the stipend to use during senior year. So proud! Being a top student there is an incredible feat.
