It has been running during the Olympics. I dont get it.

I get it.

Couldn’t figure out if they’re praising or chastising the American work ethic. Not sure the commercial is even relevant anymore.

GP, that is how I see the ad too.

Was waiting for him to say “'Merica!”

I hate that ad–it actually makes me think worse of the brand, which is the worst possible thing an ad can do.

I skip commercials (DVR) so I never saw this before. It has all the characteristics of a satire but they want us to take it seriously?

It makes sense in context with the Olympics but I don’t like the actor and it doesn’t really work. I also agree that it may no longer be relevant.

Ha - I saw this commercial and all I could think of was, “hey, that creepy Dave from Desperate Housewives!!!” - everytime I see him I get creeped out thinking of his character!!!

I think this ad is a Cadillac’s attempt at humor, but it comes across looking just as bad as the recent BMW series of ads (a gang of hells angels scattering at the first site of an approaching Beemer or something like that). The message they deliver is: our cars are driven by gigantic, arrogant a-holes, so hurry in and join the club. Yuck.

Haha Abasket! I think of the creepy guy from Justified. That actor played a scary character and the commercial skeeves me out!

ICK. don’t like and had never seen the ad before. May start lobbying H against a Caddilav–before I was pretty neutral. Really don’t like the snob image being projected, as don’t think that is me or H.
H did think a Caddilac Might be a nice new car.

It did what commercials are supposed to do: Get your attention.

Most of the time a commercial is run and 5 seconds later I couldn’t tell you what it was or what was being advertised.

I usually do ignore commercials, but that one is irritating and provokes negative feelings in me toward the brand, which I don’t think is what it is supposed to do. I said to my H after seeing it that I was obviously not in the target demographic.

When the cadillac ad comes on, my wife says turn down the sound or change the channel.

Who is the target demographic? He comes across as snobby and creepy but that seems unintentional. Maybe not. The script seems to be hard work equals success in America which makes sense but overall, it’s a big fail.

Heads are going to roll…

“It did what commercials are supposed to do: Get your attention.”

It is not enough for a commercial to be effective.

Thought it was post-Mad Men, work hard/play hard. GM does have words about it.

Prefer commercials that leave with a nice or good feeling, not ones that make me irked or think ICK! Wouldn’t pay someone to have people think bad thoughts about my brand.
