The Cafe Watering Hole: PART DEUX

Don’t worry about adjusting. The nothing I did in high school was far less than the nothing you did, since you had APs. I’ve adjusted fine so far. As long as you’re prepared to put in about 40-50 hours per week for class time plus homework/study time, you should be fine. Just don’t take on too much. The people I know who are getting creamed are the ones who went to really good high schools and placed into really hard classes, only to find them unmanageable when it was too late. Or they put way too much pressure on themselves to do well because they think they should be prepared for it.

I just realized early on that I suck at all sorts of things, which actually really helps me to keep a positive attitude.

Congrats snoop!

[YouTube - Northwestern Fight Song](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTPKnvAiH5o)

And I’m pretty sure no one has even seen John Krasinski’s most likely terrible adaptation of Brief Interviews. Call me a hipster if you will, but nothing he(DFW) writes should be turned into a movie.

[Admission News : Stanford University](<a href=“Page Not Found : Stanford University”>Page Not Found : Stanford University) ahaha. Stanford was my apply-for-fun school. Ahaha. I can’t wait for the slaughter.

Now, Mikey, I have some questions. Numero uno, how easy is it to switch schools? Since it looks more and more like I’ll want to switch to the Radio/TV/Film major.

But I’m getting ahead of myself. I don’t want to think about fin aid.

Switching from WCAS to Comm isn’t any issue at all. And I’m glad you’ve finally embraced RTVF.

Yes, Mikey, I’ve come to my senses; also, Stephen Colbert went to Comm. So.

Are you in engineering? I want to think you are.

I could care less about Stanford, I just hope NU doesn’t suck when I visit. Wildcat Days are at the end of April, I hope. I get my wisdom teeth out the 8th and I don’t want to be drugged and numb when I’m in the city of Oprah.

Nope, WCAS, Math, English/Creative Fiction, and Economics, sorry to disappoint.

I strongly suggest you skip the lectures during Wildcat Days and wander campus or sit in on classes instead.

There’s a good chance of that, Mikey. Vandy’s MOSAIC was ridiculous with how many lectures they gave and how little class time I got.

RTVF! RTVF! RTVF! Should I spend a few quarters in WCAS getting my feet wet, then switch? Or switch as soon as possible?

But again, I’m getting ahead of myself. I could end up at, like, Harvard still. Haha. Hahahahhahah.

Stanford has a nice rejection letter.

Who cares, Stanford isn’t that great anyway. :)

Well duh.

Got my Vandy package today. They gave nice aid. Craaaaaaaap NU better be close to it.

5 days and a few hours til Yale (and Hahvahd and Snooplumbia). Heh.

What is the word for legislation that aims to bring about social change? An example would be the Great Society, which was designed to promote equality and reduce racism. Or actually, I think the term I’m looking for refers to the process of effecting (yes, it is correct to use effect here and not affect) change through legislation rather than the legislation itself.

I graduated college a year ago, so I’m not asking because I need help on a homework assignment.

Social reform?

Yeah, I think that’s social reform.

And Brown and Princeton. ugh.

Also: [Countdown to Apr 1, 2010 5:00 PM in Hartford](<a href=“Time since Apr 1, 2010 5:00 pm started in Hartford”>Time since Apr 1, 2010 5:00 pm started in Hartford) You may replace “Hartford time” with “New York City time” and it will work just fine. Or Boston, whatever floats your boat really.

Eh. I’m not too bothered about Rice, Snooplumbia, or Hahvahd. Or Pomona, really. I’m trying to slowly convince my mother that Harvard is a name and not much else, that way when I’m rejected she’s not too worried and if I’m accepted (lol) she won’t kill me if I happen to not go there. And she already doesn’t care about Columbia or any of the others I’ve applied to.

I anticipate a lot of purple in my future, real talk.

For Christ’s sake, Rice. I “do not qualify for need-based aid”? What the crap??!

But I do not care, since wildcats eat owls, at least they do in my mind.

You can usually appeal financial aid decisions.

I suppose I could. But I wasn’t kidding when I said I anticipate a lot of purple in my future.

Haven’t done my spring break homework. 3 hours til I’m sleepy. Hmm.

I am somewhat dreading this easter, not because Jesus’ rebirth isn’t swell, but because I will have a total of four days during which to wallow in my misery.

But I suppose I will enjoy those four days if I have joy to wallow in. There are always two sides to everything.

Still no homework done. Ah well.

You’ll have a joyful wallow.

I hope so, I really do.

I have a play to start and finish reading before 8:30 AM tomorrow.
