The Cafe Watering Hole: PART DEUX

Phoenix sounds so much like The Killers that it’s not even funny.

Not haha.

Snoop, you’re so harsh with the parents who are facing An Empty Nest.

I’m just a harsh glass of water.

Heavy water.

Hard water.

I wonder how long I can go without texting anyone. Not long, I wager.

I’m convinced that summer is rendering me insane.

I love summer. Except I have a cold. But it’s great. I haven’t felt this free and relaxed in probably over 10 months.

I text a lot too, Snoop. It’s okay.

I’m eager to start what will probably be the biggest roller coaster of a schoolyear yet.

Haha. I just wanted my senior year to be over from the beginning.

I felt the freeness at first. I guess I still like that. But that’s probably what’s making me insane.

I just realized that recovering + first semester of senior year = I’M GOING TO DIEEEEEEE

Not literally, but still. And I haven’t texted the person I text the most for two whole days. Go snoop.

That gives you a really good excuse to complain about everything. Use that opportunity.

If you get your essays and recs done, that’s most of your work out of the way. And applying EA to a bunch of places helps. I had four acceptances under my belt by January.

And feel free to ask for advice here, since the rest of CC is incredibly inefficient at answering those sorts of questions.

Is it a boy?

I’ve got the beginning of my senior year all mapped out. I have to be strategic about my silly college apps, since I’ll be applying to college in two separate countries. Maybe 3 or 4, if I decide to apply somewhere in France or the UK. Unlikely, though.

I will work like a horse in the beginning, and then if I get accepted to Yale in December, I’ll get senioritis and stop working until I freak out about getting my admission rescinded and then I’ll work like a horse all over again. Or, if I get rejected/deferred, I’ll work like a horse throughout.

I found that CC is sort of unhelpful with a lot of stuff. Tsk tsk.

The problem with Yale EA is that it’s single-choice. So, I’ll have a maximum of 1 acceptance under my belt by January. Except if some Canadian schools accept me early, which is likely, seeing as rolling admissions is ridiculous, and IB students are ridiculously favoured.

“Is it a boy?”

I’ve never worked like a horse and I don’t plan on starting now. Maybe I’m setting myself up for disappointment, but at least I’ve gotten over my state school fervor and am aiming high again. I’ll write some essays before the summer’s up and work from there.

You’ll do great, Tennizzler.

Whenever I go on msn, I get messages from spammers that are like “hi if ur not homosexuel go 2 this link” and it’s really sad.

It is a boy.

I hope so. If not, God help us all. It’s nice to dream at least. And I know I’m smart, it’s just the whole I haven’t done much that worries me.

Are you not homosexuel and do you go 2 that link?

In situations like this, I am homo.

Except not.

Any “not” joke reminds me of Borat.

I know what you mean, though. I hate that in order to be perceived as “smart,” you have to have done a ton of bs that you don’t actually care about. It’s silly. Silly society.

Let’s write novels and screenplays that are vaguely critical of society and watch as the hipsters fall in love.

Yes, let’s. I get vague ideas all the time but whenever I try to sit and write it comes out all trite and ridiculous and drained after one paragraph. So I stop.

I’m the smart kid at school, and let me tell you, it sucks. Because I always have to be on, and everyone has already formed an opinion about me. SUCKS.

Part of the reason I’m excited about leaving high school is to get away from the silly image everyone has formed of me, which I don’t necessarily fit into anymore. Tsk tsk.

It can be like that story about the rabbits that is some sort of allegory about Hitler. Except ours doesn’t really need to be an allegory, it can just be a story about white rabbits, and it will be perceived as an allegory when it really isn’t. We’ll have to publish anonymously, or under a pen name, and we’ll get a huge fan base, just wait.

I’ve never heard of Hitler rabbits, but I’ll write the first half if you write the second.

Do they perceive you as an emo overachiever?

I’m generally really sarcastic and cynical and a lot of people perceive me as mean, when I’m not really. Sucks. I don’t really talk about my grades or my achievements, but people still have some idea that I’m “smart”. The few times I’ve told anyone I wanted to go to Yale, they’ve always been like “oh ull def. get in” but they just don’t understand.

Are you like Juno but more cynical in real life too?

I’m cynical, I suppose. People think I’m mean.

Everyone thinks I want to go to Harvard and when they ask me and I shrug they say “oh ull def get in” too. God forbid they knew I didn’t want to be a “doctor or lawyer or something important like that.”
