We have orientation the week before classes start, so it’s not too much of a help when it comes to signing up for classes.

I’m still debating whether to take a language first year or wait until I’m a sophomore. Right now I’m taking Math 41L (2nd semester calc for kids with AP credit + Lab), Chem 21L (Chem 1 + lab), Writing 20 (first year writing class required for all students), and BAA 93D (Intro to Biological Anthropology and Anatomy, which will probably be my major). I’m debating whether I should replace BAA 93D with a language…

^Duke doesn’t know how to let its students live. The advisor for some of my friends went to their course registration page, clicked on the drop down box, changed their max courses to 9 (as far as it would go), and told them to have fun.

My suggestion would be to take the language freshman year, since there’s nothing profound about learning a language. I think you’d want your sophomore year open for things related to your major. And since you’re not positive on a major yet, this will give you more time to think about it.

Take BAA. I pushed off my foreign language to take classes that worked towards prospective majors my first semester. You have 4 years to pick up a language. You have 2 to pick up a major (or less depending on number of required courses).

laskdfjsaklfjd. I was supposed to go away with my friends this week, and my mom decided AN HOUR BEFORE I LEFT that I wasn’t allowed to go. My friends are all partying right now… and I’m grounded. So much for post-graduation freedom.

Les…that’s exactly what my parents would do…I’ve grown to expect it. No worries though…I’m sure you’ll be able to go as crazy as you want at Brown…
i’m sure whenever i come back during vac. from chicago my parents will be crazy protective and not let me do anything so i’ve already established that in my head from now so i wont get mad later on :(

My friend’s mom asked me why my parents have such an early curfew for me. It’s that sad, but not really. Really, I just want to be able to come home between 1 and 3 AM on weekends. My parents demand by 11 or 12 (depending on their mood). It cuts into a little of my fun.

If you’re a guy^ then I’ll be really happy to know that I’m not the only guy out there whose parents are like that, but if you’re a girl, then I feel a whole lot worse!
