Oh, that’s weird, but both make sense.

“Monter” is the infinitive form so it’s kind of like “To ride on an elephant, it’s high, it’s high.” (It doesn’t make sense in English, I know.) "Mont

I take Spanish, so I understand infinitives. It’s okay.

The past participle in the case is really awkward in English. “Rode on an elephant” doesn’t make as much sense as “To ride on an elephant.”

Those Brits were really thinking ahead when they decided to eliminate accents and whatnot from the alphabet.

Yak, I’m in need of some French help. If I translate this correctly I get extra credit in Lit, which is to say if you translate it correctly I get extra credit in Lit.

“Commel’on serait savant si l’on connaissait bien seulment cinq a six livres”

It means something along the lines of “How learned/knowledgeable one would be if one merely fully knew/understood 5 to 6 books.” The word “savant” in that sentence could be used as a noun, in which case it would basically mean “smart/intelligent person” or “scientist” or it could be used as an adjective, in which case it would mean “learned/knowledgeable.” Take your pick.

Haha, maybe I’m glad I’m only fluent in one language. This way, I don’t have to deal with silly school kids and their homework.

Here I am, sipping my tea, thinking I should be doing something more productive than reading random posts on CC.

Thanks Yak, that makes sense. Some silly man named Flaubert said it, apparently he’s a big deal. As if someone could be a big deal with a name like Flaubert.

I f-cking hate the SAT.

On an unrelated note, his first name is Gustave. Gustave Flaubert is distinctly worse than Flaubert alone.

I liked Madame Bovary.

There’s another book I haven’t read…

I am having really crappy day.

I have felt sick all weekend. I don’t know why. It is pretty warm, but that usually doesn’t bother me. Part of it is my allergies, but that’s not all. Maybe it’s the back to school flu, and it’s just coming a bit late.

I still haven’t studied. Bah.

Is this the largest thread on CC?

If not, it’s got to be at least top 3.

I still haven’t come up with any ideas for show and tell. I might have to just introduce all my imaginary friends and have an imaginary party. That could work…

This might be the top thread on CC right now. There have been bigger threads, but they either a) are not currently active, or b) have been deleted because of size. For instance, the “I have a new game” thread had 35,000 posts, but the mods deleted it after a point, because threads that size use up too much space.

Every year we have a show and tell project for Spanish and every year I bring my baseball glove. Usually because it’s sitting in my locker.

That’s handy.

The hardest things are always black and white.

And the references get even more obscure.
