My Chinese friend always fakes a British accent. It’s really annoying, and really stupid.

Both are correct, though.

I have so much reading, oh my god.

I have to read 100 pages of apush by tomorrow. And study for math. And chem.

I wrote an introductory paragraph about the commercialization of Christmas for English. It’s bangin’.

You will never be British, snoop.

I have my senior interview tomorrow. It’s this thing where your counselor interviews you for an hour so they can pretend they know you for your rec. I would complain about how disingenuous it is, but my counselor is known for writing awesome recs so I won’t.

I had a senior interview. It was so pointless. My counselor just asked to which colleges am I applying, and when I said “Amherst,” he said, “Oh, I’ve never heard of that one.” So I rattled off my list. He looked up a few of them in his big book. Then he said, “For selective schools, it’s best to get your application in as soon as possible. The earlier, the better.” Last time I checked, Harvard doesn’t have rolling admissions. When I said I was using OSU for my safety, he gave me an application. When I looked at the application later, I noticed that it was for last year. Then I asked him about class rank, since there are currently 3 people at #1. He said it would stay that way unless one of us gets an A-. Then I went back to Accounting.

I have a list of questions I have to type up answers for. Some of them just straight up ask what you want them to write.

ex. “What personal qualities would you like emphasized in your letter of recommendation?”

Well. At least they’re honest.

It’s actually kind of nice. Now I can make sure the rec falls in line with what I’ve emphasized on my apps. I can make sure it says all the right things, it’s like I get to construct how other people perceive me in the most idealistic way possible. It’s terrible that my school does this, the more I think about it.

It’s actually good that schools do that, especially if they’re big. Here, recs aren’t required so students don’t really need to know their guidance counselors, so we don’t really have any senior interviews.

My counselor knows me. Then again, I’ll probably have a new counselor by next year. Since counselors change with grade level. It’s so stupid.

It’s certainly convenient. I have a lot of complaints about my school, but how they handle college apps isn’t one of them. You just tell the college and career office where you’re applying, and they organize everything(transcript, recs, secondary report, etc.) and send it out. Everything but the actual application and scores.

All the kids that sucked up to my GC for 4 years are ****ed that I get as much say in my rec as they do.

AP Physics B and AP Comp. Sci. are giving me a lot of trouble.

Mass consumerism is quite a phrase.

Snoop, if you’re writing about the commercialization of Christmas, you should read this.

http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/blogs/freakonomics/pdf/WaldfogelDeadweightLossXmas.pdf

Haha, I love it when people think they can take the simplest thing and turn it into this huge enterprising problem. I read something last year about how a snowman counters the progress women have made in society. It said something about how snowmen were always placed in the public areas, showing how men have more prominent roles in society, and how women are kept at home.

AP Comp. Sci. seems horribly boring.

How nice.

Righteous Kill will be the best thing since sliced bread, you know.

Says the person taking a class called “Theory of Knowledge”

JB, that’s kind of a famous paper on consumer economics.

I took Computer Science at school, but it was independent study, meaning the teacher just checked in every once in a while. It was actually pretty fun. I really didn’t learn a whole lot, but it was a good introduction. I didn’t think it was boring at all, but it was obviously not a traditional computer class.

I don’t know. I’d rather be in Theory of Knowledge than AP Comp Sci.
