The Cafe Watering Hole

Don’t ask me any questions about calculus. I’m grossly clueless.

I just discovered that I can read and understand Haitian Creole.

How bout that.

More Importantly,

BEARS WIN!!! WOOOOHOOOO!!!

ahem.

I. Feel like. Crap.

So. My philosophy test today consisted of two 500 word essays. In less than an hour.

That sounds messy.

They expect you to count words on essay tests? Huh??? That must be the difference between good high schools and my crappy one. I’ve never had an essay test where the teacher didn’t cave in and give us more time the next day to finish it.

I’m trying this new thing this week where I prioritize everything I do, with a to-do list. It includes getting all my homework done before I turn on my computer, and then promptly shutting off my computer at 10:15 to go to bed. So far it’s worked out great, and I feel like I have a lot more time. And I’m getting a whole extra hour of sleep each night. It’s kind of funny how I’ve always had the capability to discipline myself, but I’ve never actually done it.

They don’t really expect us to count the words. They all know what 500 words really is, and they can tell if something is ridiculously under or over it. I didn’t really have any trouble with my test, I just don’t think I wrote everything as well as I could’ve, and my teacher is really, really strict. It’s kind of funny because all of my essays start out really poetic and end horribly. My first essay was a lot better than my second one, today.

All of my essays start out with a really general introduction where I usually make some type of philosophical claim that leads to the topic of the essay. Then I have some previewing of points, and a thesis statement that’s never quite strong enough. At the end, I’m always hasty to end the essay, so I just repeat some things I said and try to tie my conclusion to my outrageous philosophy of the introduction. I even do this on scientific essays. It usually gets me an A, but the essays are really bad. I’m horrible with ACT/SAT essays.

Well, it’s time for bed now.

woohoo, I get to spend 3 days in oregon state univ, all expenses paid for :D

Today is my birthday.

Happy birthday!IU$@:@N#!!

Back to the long postponed SAT II studying.

Happy birthday, Canada.

I’m covered in mosquito bites.

My dad got some republican mail today and inside there’s a picture of Sarah Palin so I took it so I can do something blasphemous to it. Or something.

A man in something that vaguely resembled a jet pack with wings soared across the English channel on Friday.

White Sox!
White Sox! White Sox!
Go-Go White Sox!
Let’s go, Go-Go White Sox
We’re with you all the way!
You’re always in there fighting,
And you do your best.
We’re glad to have you out there in the Middle West.
We’re gonna root-root-root-root White Sox.
And cheer you on to victory.
When we’re in the stands,
We’ll make those rafters ring;
All through the season,
You will hear us sing.
Let’s go, Go-Go White Sox,
Chicago’s proud of you!
