^^
I am a senior, but I don’t have AP Econ =(
I know it’s not a good idea to go straight into 100A, but I’m in bad situation right now and I don’t have much choice (I just decided to do pre-pharm…yeah I know)

Do community college courses taken during high school count towards my UC GPA? I’ll be applying this fall.

For the lab notebook, I am supposed to do the title and purpose before the actual lab? Also, if there is already a table in the lab report sheet, do I have to make a table in my lab notebook?
And what kind of thoughts and questions should i write down?

here is my ideal spring schedule (btw, I’m a spring admit):

spanish 1 (5 units)
earth and planetary science 3 (2 units)
french 185 (4 units)
anthro 3ac (4 units)
and a one unit seminar
(I also wanted to take a PE class but they are already full)

so that would be 16 units. does that look OK?

also: what should I sign up for in phase one?

anthro and eps are big classes (hundreds of students), but they are already filling up. french is small (25 people max), so i feel like that should be phase one…
and all the spanish times are full, i don’t even know if i’ll be able to get on the waitlist. any ideas, thoughts? (especially about what to do for phase 1)

thanks for your help, my appointment is soon!

So the app is due Nov 30th? So if i complete it tonight then it’s all good? I’m applying out of state. If I have all mailed in stuff post marked tomorrow is that okay? I just don’t know much about UC:B and this date snuck up on my as I prepared for all the other Jan 1st deadlines.

I see the deadline is 11:59 nov. 30th. Is that Pacific time?

^ Yep.

Does anyone know how many essays Haas transfers need to write?

do I need to send a score report from ACT and SAT?

Fastfood15, the UCs only ask for self-reported scores from applicants. Then, when a student is accepted, he or she must prove the reported grades and scores with official transcripts and such.

Now, for my questions:
- I saw a thread on the Berkeley forum asking for a list of must-do things before graduating. I looked for it but was unable to find it. Can somebody please point me to it? There was no pre-existing list as referenced, but several people offered their own ideas, and one poster listed several dozen musts, if not a hundred or more. I am dying to see this list again!

I just finished my first semester, and added 19 units to the 30+ from APs. Next semester I plan to take 20 units. I like the challenge and want to continue taking far more classes than required, not just in the sciences (aka towards my major) but also from various departments in L&S. A professor warned me in office hours that if I keep this up, the university will boot me out before I finish my degree requirements because of an excess of units. For the university to do this is utterly disgusting, in my opinion. It should encourage self-motivated learning above all else. But now is not the time for my opinion. Can somebody point me to some university literature with all the details and fine print?

Many thanks. Hopefully this bar doesn’t take forever to fill orders…

EDIT: Forgot to mention this article mentioning question two for L&S:
[College Policies-Unit Guidelines](http://ls-advise.berkeley.edu/collegepolicies/unit.html)
It says that “*f you stay in college more than eight semesters, you may not continue beyond the semester in which you complete more than 130 units.” Does this mean I can take as many units as I want as long as I graduate in four years? Also, I am currently in the college of chemistry, although I might transfer to the college of engineering or L&S – so if somebody could post the link(s) that address the question for all three, that would be really nice. Thanks again!

Okay, you people are slow. Here’s the answer to my first question (I had to use the Google search engine for CC’s domain):
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-berkeley/188887-must-do-things-before-you-leave-cal.html
I guess I’ll just call some college counselor/adviser about the second question.

The only important numbers are 130 and 60 in terms of units.

L and S wants you to declare by 60 (but you can go up to 85 and still be okay) and they won’t support you after your 8th semester at Cal. Everything else does not matter. Your AP’s/CC credits don’t count toward this 60 units (I’ve already asked a counselor about this).

EDIT: meant 9 semesters. A counselor told me you get 4 years and an extra semester.

CalPremedMCB, you are wrong, they don’t want you to do declare by 60, they do not care when you declare as long as you declare before 85. Summer sessions (and CC units for freshman admits) are freebies, they only affect your GPA and boost your TeleBEARS, but they never hurt you.

Examples:
-you could be an 8th semester single major senior with 129.5 fall/spring units and tons of summer/CC units and you will still be allowed to take a 9th semester
-you could be an 9th semester double major senior with 135.5 fall/spring units and tons of summer/CC units and you will still be allowed to take a 10th semester
-you could be an 8th semester single/double major senior with 130/+ fall/spring units and tons of summer/CC units and you will still be allowed to take summer session after your 8th semester

NOTE: For spring admits, if you did FPF that counts as your first semester, even though you were technically off-campus

im pretty sure he hit the limit a LONG time ago (i.e. “I raise my drink and say cheers to you, LaxAttack!”)

I’m out of the country until Wednesday night, June 24. Berkeley summer session starts June 22, and I’d like to take a math and chem class - is it okay to miss the first three days? (I would of course be willing to work extra hard to catch up…or do a little work beforehand)

this is sort of random but does UCB recognize CA Girls State as being prestigious? or do they just sort of glace over it?

what is cal’s policies on cars for freshman admits? are there any policies?

Yeah, you can have a car–the university doesn’t really regulate what students bring (it’s not like high school). HOWEVER–I would recommend that you not bring a car, because parking is pretty difficult, not just finding spaces, but avoiding getting fined for not having the right permit. If you do bring one, you should probably make sure you can pay for whatever tickets you’ll almost definitely get (about $70 for one someone I know got for having the wrong permit).

And now my question: Does anyone know where you can get a cheap plastic table and chair (for tabling in Sproul) near campus?

Is the Berkeley campus cigarette-friendly?

I would say maybe to that. You can smoke on campus freely (a lot of students do that) but it’s more difficult in the dorms. In the units they have this smoking area in the central plazas, but the RA’s can be pretty strict about keeping you away from the buildings. In short, you can smoke, but not at your convenience.
