@NYKaren sounds great, i know NOTHING but im betting on a YES and maybe quicker than you think!! keep us updated
Yay! I am so glad I found this thread! I was hoping one had been created for those of us embarking on the journey this year! Thanks for starting it!
My D is auditioning for MT programs in the SE. She’s submitted prescreens to some schools and registered for live auditions at others. Our first stop is Belmont in a couple weeks!
Welcome @easmom1 ! Break a Leg at Belmont! My D is auditioning there for both MT and VP, but not until January.
@NYKaren Sounds like a very positive experience! Fingers crossed for an equally positive outcome!
@easmom1 Welcome! We are in the SE as well - auditioning at Belmont on 10/27!
@overwhelmedmama App fees, prescreen fees, audition fees – we are already over $2,500 and not done yet ?
You must be applying to a lot of schools, but I didn’t keep track - if I had I would have had to tell my husband instead of playing dumb.
@NYYFanNowMTdad , let’s hope your right! It will be nice to have one under the belt! It’s a decent safety school.
@2019wolves how many schools are you applying to?
Hi @NYKaren - that is better than a safety! They are on my ‘list’ of top 50 (my only good reference point for schools I am not familar with LOL) so thinking that would be a great one to have as a backup. I’m glad it went well!
How long was the turn around time for Rider’s prescreen? Prescreen was submitted October 4, but the teacher recommendation wasn’t submitted until October 11. Just trying to gauge when we might hear back. TIA!
Just left Arcadia - nice, small program. The director of the program, Mark Wade (MFA, Yale) was wonderful. After open house, campus tour (really pretty - and 20 minute walk to train to downtown Philly) and audition we went to see their production of As You Like It, which was hilarious. They are planning 6 main stage shows (2 MT, 4 plays) next year and will have local Philadelphia directors come in to direct at least 4 of them. Definitely going to be on my D’s list (if she passed audition).
@elledapitzer Will likely be 31.
@afterp89 what degree do you receive from Arcadia?
@elledaspitzer They have a BA in Theatre Arts and a BFA in Acting with MT concentration. If you are interested in studying abroad, they’re the #1 school in the nation and it is highly subsidized.
@2019wolves you might win the prize! Do you have a daughter? I have to admit - if we didn’t limit to BFA’s within a days drive it would have been hard to narrow down. I was relieved my d didn’t want to apply to any BA or non-audition programs because it would have been a lot of work to figure out where to go. When we were at CCM they told us the record they had ever heard of and it may have been just over 30 - but that is the only time I have heard that. I don’t know how you are going to do it but I wish you and your child luck.
@2019wolves I thought we were a lot with 22 form my DS!! Can I honestly ask how will you have the time to get all auditions in? I think we are pretty regimented on time with 22!!
@elledaspitzer, I might have to look into Arcadia! Sounds interesting! Thanks for the info!
@MTdreamz I do have a daughter, yes. She has 5 other friends that are applying to 31 as well – so maybe we all tie for the record lol! But the final number of auditions will likely be closer to 20, as not all prescreens will be passed. There are already 4 prescreens my D has not passed.
@NYKaren Well the reality of how many auditions will actually happen is likely closer to your number of 22. Not all prescreens will be passed.
@NYKaren where did you D end up?
