@MToverload congrats!!! Great news
@MTBackstagemom , Yes, we heard back last week. My S was a No. We auditioned on Dec. 1st. The decision is posted on the Portal for Penn State,
@MToverload , my son was accepted today from Nazareth BFA Musical Theater as well. Congrats. It’s great to have that ONE YES before the holidays. We auditioned there on Dec. 7th. Did we meet? (son Sam, I was there with my wife)
@collegeboundSam My husband was there with my daughter - he spent time doing work while there, but yes, it was the 7th. Congratulations to your son!
@collegeboundSam congrats!!
@collegeboundSam & @MToverload congrats on the early acceptance!
Thank you @NYYFanNowMTdad . (I’m a huge Yankee fan as well)
Hey everyone! So happy to hear about all of the acceptances! Isn’t it crazy that we are already there in the process? With Unifieds right around the corner I’m appreciating the calm before the storm. Its going too fast!
I had a question… D auditioned for a school. Did well on the dance piece. Could do more than most. In singing part of the audition they stopped her before she was done singing. She got through most of they cut but they cut her off before the end. They then did monologue and said thank you. They talked to some people after the audition and others they didn’t. She felt like she did well but I guess I was thinking it wasn’t good they didn’t even let her finish the end of her song. Anyone have any thoughts?
@frisbee3 Honestly the first lesson I learned was to never try and second-guess how these auditions go. It could be that they loved it and saw all they needed to see. Or it could be that they wanted to move on to the next person. You will just never know but you can drive yourself crazy trying to get inside their head so I would just put it behind you and move on. You’ll know soon enough !
Been a funny 24 hours. Got an email from Michigan saying I passed the MT prescreen and was so shocked I almost fell over. Out of all my prescreen schools it was definitely the most selective and I really was not expecting a pass. This morning I woke up to a prescreen “no” from Rider. No hard feelings (I wasn’t really attached to them) but it’s such a random process. My mom and I couldn’t help but chuckle over breakfast about it.
@MThopeful99 Funny, my D had a “yes” for Rider and a “no” for Michigan.
Sometimes I wonder about the process.
Good morning! Congrats on all acceptances!
@BWmama Which Unified are you going? My D has an audition with U Arts at Unified Chicago and they have the dance audition.
@kwheel_2019 Which day was your BW audition? My D is on waitlist for an open space.
Also my D got yesterday a pass for Shenandoah but is on a waitlist because all spaces are already filled. Anybody has any experience with this?
Good morning. This is a crazy process!!! My D passed Emerson prescreen. I don’t know why I’m a bit more excited about this one.
@caralf1 We are going to NY. Maybe I"m just reading over the info. If you have a memory, where did you see that info?
And my D is also on waitlist for BW. To be honest, I am not sure we would even be able to fit it in. She has a show she’s performing right in the middle of audition season, but it’s a regional show so she wants to put it on her resume.
I know at least one person who heard a no from Penn State. My son hasn’t heard back yet. He auditioned the first weekend. His friend who heard no auditioned the second weekend.
@frisbee3 I agree with @Notmath1 the 1st rule of surviving this process is DON"T try to read the room. They could have stopped her singing because they liked what they heard. We were told by a MT admissions person at a college that they usually know they want you in the first 20 seconds. That being said, sometimes they think you have tremendous talent but they already have 2 people who look just like you ( or have 2 blondes,etc) Sometimes they need someone who looks like you but you didn’t show them enough in the audition so they talk to you after. There are so many possible scenarios, thats why you shouldn’t try to read the room
Fisbee3 I actually lean towards that being a good sign If they know they are never going to see you again they usually let you finish just to be nice. If they know you are going to get a CB they are more apt to cut you off b /c they know they will see you again (the strong dance would indicate this too).
@Notmath1 and @Boilermom - Thank you for the reality check! It was the first audition and we have a long way to go so I needed the reminder. Had a similar reaction to the first prescreen response which was a “no” that was then followed by happy “yeses”. SO thankful for the support and guidance from others in this MT process! Have a great Holiday and New Year!
Do schools ever have “callbacks” at Unifieds (Chicago)? We have a complicated schedule for 7 schools figured out from Saturday to Thursday, with no open spots left. I was then a little panicked, just wondering if the kids ever have to be available for a callback later in the day, or is it all based on what they see in the scheduled audition slot? I’m hoping the latter, because we don’t have much flexibility to get back somewhere at short notice.
@ZukAndSowash have you checked the Penn state admission portal? My S auditioned the fist weekend and we got a NO, but did not find out until I checked the Penn state admission portal.
