the cliched chances thread RD

Hi everyone,
I’m a senior in a high school located in the burbs of chicago. I was hoping some of you could let me know what my chances at duke RD were.
GPA (the main drawback) 3.0 UW
Very rigorous courses (all APs and Honors)
Upward trend in grades from 2.5 fresh and soph to 3.8 Junior year and 4.6 senior (senior year is unofficial)
32 ACT
Good extracirrics (250+ hours volunteering at a VA hospital, research work at a cosmetic company, South Asian Student Association, Scholastic bowl captain, Varsity tennis)
Good Work experiences (T-mobile Cell Phone salesman, Junior Technician at a cosmetics company, and CNA at a doctors office)
I’ve done some research on how different ethnicities have stronger hair
I had all my teachers and friends tell me my essays were amazing

BUT the main drawback is my grades. 3.0 in a subpar high school. My class rank is 300 out of 612.
Please be open and honest. I honestly don’t expect anyone saying “oh you’ll get in”
Thank You!

You should look elsewhere for admission.

The GPA may really hurt you, you should have at least a 3.2 UW, and a much higher W. You have a slight chance though as your test scores are high, but your rank and GPA are low. Is there an explanation for this?

If you applied to CAS, you’ll most likely be put into LSP which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Someone from my school had the same GPA, and around an 1800 SAT and got LSPed. But he applied ED so…perhaps if you apply ED II, you would have a shot. If you’re applying to Stern, then Staller is right, look elsewhere.

thanks guys. regarding the grades, well i was a budding tennis star and life was all tennis for me. a slew of injuries sidelined me to the point where i had to focus on school. hence the better grades.
can you elaborate what LSP is?
