So, I’m applying to Vassar college early decision. My application is entering its final stages of completion, and waking up every morning is getting more and more difficult.

That said, one question remains- something I didn’t manage to get out on the Vassar tour. Are people allowed to climb the trees? In visiting, one of the first things that came to mind was “if I get in and things don’t go so well, I could always just spend all my time climbing trees, training for the circus.”

My understanding is that Vassar is an arboretum, which means that it has lots and lots and lots of trees, yes? But, does that make them like pieces of art in a museum- you’re so close, you can smell them, but if you try to touch them, someone with a stick breaks your fingers? It’s been killing me.

Thanks.

You can touch them, you can sit up against them, you can hug them if that’s your thing… but you can’t climb the Vassar trees, sorry.

If you’d like to train for the circus, however, there’s another outlet not involving trees for doing so… a campus group called the Barefoot Monkeys which performs Circus tricks, in particular juggling and playing with fire :D

Why is “waking up every morning getting more and more difficult?”

Its a consistent Joke on campus that the the tree police will come fine you for climbing . . . and I think technically they can write you a ticket or something because the trees are protected, but I NEVER saw someone cited for climbing trees and I saw a lot of people climbing trees . . . typically though you climb the out of the way trees (maybe they’d cite you for that tree with the really long branch that needs to be held up outside of Rocky. . . but I suspect someone’s climbed that too)

Ah, shoot! Sorry, guys. I read your responses but never answered. Rather jerky.

But, yeah, thanks a lot. If I get in, I look forward to some serious ninja tree-climbing.

And, waking up every morning was getting more difficult because that eapplication was hell to finish. People kep telling me that I have to start my “regular decision” applications. What a miserable thought.
