The Colledge Planning Network

With our first child currently a senior in HS and three more right behind her, we were desperate to find the best avenues for financial aid. We jumped right into the Colldge Planning Network. My daughter has dabble on the site, filling in her profile and doing practice SAT’s.

Now the time has come for me to send them all of my financials. Taxes, SS numbers, everything in order for them to assist with FAFSA. I havent yet. Does anyone have a story to tell (good or bad) about this company?

There is ABSOLUTELY no reason why you need someone else to help you fill out the FAFSA. It is not hard to do. You will have to provide the same information to a third party to do it for you (I sure hope they aren’t charging you for this service…seriously…doing the FAFSA is not hard and is NOT something you should be paying to have help with).

Do the FAFSA yourself. Do the Profile (if needed) yourself. NO NEED to have a third party do it for you.

Also you might want to look for the financial aid/scholarship area of this forum. There is a wealth of information there which is provided by parents who have been through this process a number of times. No…we are not professionals (although there are some current and former finaid officers who do post on occasion) but filing for financial aid is not a difficult process.

All you really need to do is look on EACH college finaid website for the required submissions AND the DEADLINES. Each school is very clear on what they expect you to submit for financial aid consideration and when the expect to have this information. Again…no need to have a third party to this for you.
