~ The College Games ~

America has fallen into chaos. Students take the SAT for the first time as a kindergarten entrance exam. Those who score below 1500 out of 1600 are put to work. The lucky few who meet the threshold are taught and trained for The College Games, held at age 17, when students are pitted against each other for adcoms’ amusement. Each major university has its pick of anyone who survives, though many smaller and less selective schools have been converted into farms to feed the still-growing population. Chaos reigns. May the odds be ever in your favor.

Well, slight difference between college admissions and randomly selecting Tributes to fight to the death…

I like that  Sometimes I wish I knew certain things about college admissions before high school instead of figuring them out now in my senior year, but then I realized that devoting my teenage years to getting into college would be emotionally harmful to me (no disrespect to those that do, though).

@greenteen17 what were those things you figured out senior year that you wished you would’ve figured out earlier?

@Starforward I kind of wish I actually knew anything about the ACT and SAT so I could create a ‘battle plan’ and dramatically increase my chances of acceptances. My family/parents didn’t particularly push me to go to college and aren’t so familiar with the process so they never mentioned it. In 11th grade my school said “we’re giving the PSAT in a few weeks” and I didn’t get to prep much for that. At the same time, however, I worked very hard throughout high school and I don’t think it would’ve been good for me to work more than I did.
I also wish I knew about colleges’ obsessions with ‘spiked students’ earlier so that I could’ve developed something.
Whatever, it is how it’s supposed to be and it’ll all be good

@greenteen17 that’s really insightful… If you don’t mind me asking, how did all that turn out for you? How’d you do on the SAT/PSATs? Where are you applying now? Considering you’re on CC and sound pretty driven, I’m sure you didn’t need to know all the background on the admissions process in order to do well

Pretty sure I’d be the one to start a rebellion, due to how unjust and unfair it would be for them to send someone with stats and ECs that meet their criteria, to the “farm” for pure amusement.
