The college search starts now - I have my eyes set on NE.

Greetings!
In summer 2009 I plan to make the jump into college, but I do face some issues.
First off, I’d like to start out by saying I’m looking for schools who have a good business program. I compiled a list of schools and asked for second opinions from some of my teachers and many stated NE was a great school.

Here is my current standing:
GPA ~3.00
2000’s on SAT

5 Years of math 4/5 Honors
4 Years of English 2/4 Honors
4 Years of Social Studies 2/4 2/4 Honors
4 Years of Science (3 Labs) 2/4 Honors

Honors level courses were taken my junior and senior year (exception of math)

Unfortunatly, I didn’t really participate in any ECA’s during highschool.
I have, and are still building, community service hours.
I’ve worked in retail sales for almost two years, and I plan to seek a leadership position in August.
Right now I’m 18, I just graduated from Highschool and I had decided a while ago to take a year of so I can pace myself through the college process. I also had originally wanted to seek a career in Commercial Airline piloting, but realized it was a long, expensive, and narrow route.

Finally, which made me really upset; as I was looking around at college requirements, many of them require a foreign language. Throughout my four years of school, never my guidance nor a teacher told me that colleges require this. So my solution to this is to take a language at a local community college during my year off.

Anyways, this is my top choice college, and I would like everyone to please provide some input on things I might do to strengthen my application.

Thank you so much,
Alexander MacFarlane

Sounds like you have a good chance, what other schools are you looking at?

In my opinion, GWU and NYU are too much “in the city” (in DC and NYC, of course). I don’t know much about the others, but I applied to NYU and choose Northeastern instead partially because it was a little more campus-like than NYU was.

But then again, that’s just me. I’ve always had a strange fondness for the campus-like feel. shrug I’m weird like that.

Here’s an update list.
