For those of you currently attending the University of Pennsylvania I am curious to know what you are doing this summer in terms of job opportunities…it is common knowledge that being a Wharton student usually caters to lucrative IBanking internshipes i.e…but i was wondering what students from the college do for their summers, and what is considered the most lucrative internship to obtain for those students?

If you’re interested in government and public policy, you should look into Fels. I live near DC, so I’m attending some of their events this summer as a pre-frosh.

Not exactly the most “lucrative” when you start out, but the political arena has a certain air of prestige; plus, I’d imagine that a summer in Washington would be beneficial for networking if you take advantage of the opportunities available. SAS students are sometimes recruited by consulting firms and banks; of course, these jobs offer the highest starting salaries/bonuses.

Plenty of both College and Engineering students get internships in investment banking too.

I’m interning for Apple Inc (formerly Apple Computer Inc) in Beijing.

With Beijing’s living costs so low, the pay goes a long way ;)

It’s a very, very sexy internship. College kids do just fine. And yes they also do the ibanking/consulting things too.
