The Common Sense Fashionista

You will not be seeing me on a Paris runway anytime soon. I’m strictly a jeans and t-shirt sort of guy. Occasionally, I like to spice it up with a jacket or work pants but make no mistake, no one is gonna think I’m one of the Fab Five.

That being said, the following fashions look stupid on EVERYONE because they defy common sense. The common sense that everyone has no matter how unfashionable they are that tells them that Lime Green suits look bad even if Brad Pitt was rocking one.

Popped collars.

Those checkboard pattern shoes. Yeah, at first it might have seemed ironic and cool that you were different but now people with popped collars wear them. Bold prediction, in 10 years these will go into the same category as fanny packs, parachute pants and shoes with lights in them.

Ugg boots.

Skinny jeans, the late 90’s called, they want their 80’s nostalgia back.

Big purses and their cousins, big sunglasses.

Artificial tans. Natural tans look sexy, I admit, especially on women. However, artificial tans look ORANGE. ORANGE.

Tattoos on the lower back. Bonus if they’re tribal tattoos.

Hip hop artists and their oversized fur coats.

XXXXXL t-shirts

Insert your own here.

Boy, skinny jeans are the shizz.

Skinny jeans on guys. Just creepy.
Uggs are OK in cold weather. Celebs wearing them in LA is ridiculous.
Putting a tiny dog in a giant carrier. Animals are living creatures, not fashion accessories.

.-_-.

Um, who cares?

Let people wear what they want. You have absolutely no say in how other people run their lives. I certainly hope someone doesn’t goe “O no, Icrisis says tatoos are bad, that means I can’t get one” Stop trying to please everyone else and be yourself.

You say you’re no “fab five”, then stop acting like one. accept people for who they are. What is inside a person is vastly superior to what’s outside.

He’s just expressing his opinion. Or is that against the law now? I guess I missed the memo. Answer his question, don’t attack him.

lol

He doesn’t mean that to be a matter of opinion. He isn’t saying “Well, i think that this and this is stupid because…etc”

And if you take his OP to be a matter of opinion, well, then so must be mine! So stop “attack(ing)” me!

Watch, this will go on and on…

I actually love big purses and skinny jeans but I understand that is your opinion. I do agree with your opinion of the checkboard pattern shoes (Vans) and the Ugg Boots.

One thing I dislike is baggy baggy baggy ass jeans, like c’mon buddy pull up your pants!

I got some new boots last year that kind of looked like Uggs. I showed my friend a picture of them and asked her what she thought. She told me they were ugly and I shouldn’t wear them.

Then I told her they were outside boots and super warm. That’s when she stopped thinking I was an idiot. Yay, mukluks!

I hate wearing winter boots inside buildings. Yuck.

Actually, skinny jeans can look nice if you wear them nicely. If you wear them like a haughty Hollywood princess then that’s the problem, not the jeans.
And I object to your objection to “those checkerboard pattern shoes.” I don’t own any but I know a lot of "preps’ who wear them under jeans, and they’re not attempting to be “different” or “Emo” in doing so.

I know I have no right to tell people what they should and should not wear but, a word of advice for big girls (should be just common sense):

Girls with massive hips, buns and theighs:
Please dont wear skinny jeans. Despite the latest trends, bootcuts DO look good on you.

Girls with big stomach:
Wear a top that FITS you - ie NOT TOO TIGHT. It’s not a nice picture when there’s love handles jiggling out from tight tops. Empire waists look nice too - the ones that dont make you look pregnant… because some empire waist tops do.

Girls with bulky flabby legs:
Yes high heels elongate + strengthen your legs but kitten heels just make the legs look bigger (because of the proportions). Instead, opt for wedges or slightly thick heels (but not the square type either), like Christian Louboutin style-wise. Also, if you’v got cankles, dont wear stilletos wit straps around the ankles. Instead, wear heels where it straps BEHIND the ankles. Continuouity looks good. eg http://www.carmenstyle.org/images/Christian%20Louboutin%20sandal%20in%20Buff.jpg</a>

I know that there are heaps of Christian Louboutin knock offs in stores and they will honestly make your legs look very pretty (even though they’ll be painful).

I dont mean to offend anyone. I honestly feel for those obese girls that wear: extra short mini skirt/skinny jeans + kitten heels + boobtubes + lots of cake, orange makeup.

what about obese guys? only girls have to fix their attire? (devils advocate ftw!!!)

ps i only looked at this thread bc of the word fashionista

I also scratch my head and wonder at the thought of why anyone would wear checkered vans. I understand the they may have stemmed from the new popularity of Keds due to Mischa Barton’s modelling contract with them, but honestly, checkered vans? And the skull-and-crossbones vans aren’t much better.

My pet peeve in terms of guys’ fashion is the XXXXXXXXL shirts and XXXXL jeans. Basically guys who think they are gangsters from the hood. Identity Crisis much?

I also like Uggs in the winter  but not in the summer in LA.
