The DASH between HYP/LAC...where do they GO?

I was perusing the EA/ED admissions posts for some of the Ivies...and by the looks of it, the results are quite absurd. Yale, for SCEA this year, had an especially sporadic pattern of students who were admitted, deferred, and rejected...of course, I know the admissions committee had some method to their "madness," but to a bystander, it seems rather peculiar...

Anyway, my post isn't really in regards to that. I was just wondering where those students wind up...students with Ivy-caliber potential and stats, who are rejected from the Ivy league...there are wonderful options in the LACs and other national universities...but the SAT-average for some of the best LAC's is dramatically lower than that of the nations top-ten. Though I am personally a bit more interested in the LAC's now, I wanted to know where those "in-betweeners" are headed...? Those with stats higher than some LAC's, yet not quite right for HYP.

Any thoughts??

Remember that you're looking at averages, and you don't have to go to a college where your SAT scores are perfectly average. There are some kids at HYP with SAT scores below the average, and some at LACs with SAT scores above the average.

SAT scores at the top LACs are lower than those at HYPS, but not a whole LOT lower. There aren't tons of kids who have stats higher than the 75th percentile at Amherst/Williams/Swarthmore.

They probably go to community college

They tend to go to tier one schools and state flagships, which often are their match or safety schools, and give them nice merit aid.
