I love those videos. Of course, a cat knows a cat won’t get hurt tumbling or jumping or whatever because cats are built for that, while a dog knows falling down stuff can really hurt.

One of our best cats was a feral who lived in the garage. She showed up a pregnant kitten unable to feed herself in the winter so I started feeding her. She brought her litter squirrels and mice and God knows what. We’d find squirrel skins stripped clean on the floor. (And in a terrible ice period, she once showed up with her feet encased in balls of mostly frozen snow, meaning she’d dug her way out of the basement where she’d been trapped.) Didn’t let me touch her for 2 years. One of her kittens is now a 13 year old and another, the best cat ever, died not long ago. So they parent based on their capabilities.
