The Difference

Is that how beggar is spelled in Eurape?

McCain didn’t resign his commission, he retired after 20 yrs. He could have stepped out right after he got back since his military committment would have been done. Reality is even today the majority of Officers retire at their 20 yr mark, it has nothing to do with politics, it’s called I get retirement pay for the rest of my life when I hit the 20 yr point…common sense

Except McCain is rich enough for retirement pay really not to be an issue for him. Obviously that wasn’t the motivation.

Except that McCain wasn’t rich, his wife was (is). So, obviously we don’t know the motivation.

He married his wife before he quit the Navy. Unless he was expecting to divorce her imminently, he probably took her significant wealth into account.

Actually… to be more accurate it should probably say John McCain gave the man his business card and told him to come into his office for a job. He then phoned up the Chinese Government, borrowed $20, gave it to the homeless man, and then gave the homeless man a slip of paper that said ‘The US owes China $20 plus interest’ and said to the homeless man “and give that to your granddaughter.”

Doesn’t matter if he planned to divorce her or not. They had a pre-nup and reality is that divorces do happen - and aren’t always instigated by the husband (in fact, they usually are not). For him to just assume that he would be able to live the rest of his life on her riches would not have been prudent.
