The Difference

Maybe we can have some friendly fun with this blurb that a friend emailed me today:

John McCain, Hilary Clinton, and Barak Obama were walking down a Washington DC street when they came upon a homeless man.

John McCain gave the man his business card and told him to come to his office for a job. He then took $20 out of his pocket and gave it to the man.

Hilary was very impressed, so when they came upon another homeless person, she decided to help. She walked over to him and gave him directions to the welfare office. She then reached into John McCain’s pocket and got out $20. She kept $15 for her administrative fees and gave the homeless man $5.

When they came upon yet another homeless person, Barak told him to “have hope…… change is coming”…… and gave him nothing.

Now do you understand the difference?

Yup. McCain is the candidate of deficit spending.

Funny but true comparison!

Seems like the only deficit spending he is supporting is his own.

^^^I agree.

I had to read it twice, b/c I thought I missed something by mini’s comment

We were living in Germany at the time of the last German elections - incumbent Gerhard Schröder vs. Angela Merkel. Political discussions were similar to those here - where few people were completely satisfied with either choice. A joke making the rounds back then (which I’ve told here before - sorry - I’m a one-trick pony):

On the eve of the election Gerhard Schröder and Angela Merkel decided to distance themselves from the press, and took off in a boat to have some serious discussion of the issues. Along the way, a storm came up, and the boat was tossed to and fro, and ultimately broke apart and sank. Who was saved?

I post it here, because I see similarities in the situations. And that’s about as far as I dare express my political opinions on CC! I’m far too sensitive. ;)

binx, thanks for reposting… sums it all up.

bullet… maybe mini was joking (note smiley face) ?

One could interpret this story to show that Obama would not spend a nickel, either of his own money or yours (or Cindy’s). Heartless, full of hot air, perhaps, but not into deficit spending. I suppose that’s what Mini meant.

Wonder what jobs Mr. “I can’t be bothered to tell Shiittes from Sunnis” had to offer when the man got to the office. Oh, I know - go work for Halliburton!

I actually have given money to the poor, but it is called donating to homeless shelters.

So I guess this little “cartoon” hits a little too close to home for some. I think it is very accurate.

I just sent this link to my son and he sent me back a message about people thinking Rachel Ray was wearing a keffiyeh in a Dunkin Donuts commercial ?
(It’s a long story about how we got from here to there).
I had totally never heard that before…had anyone else heard about that?

RatedPG: Nah, people aren’t responding because cartoons rarely make for anything but pointless and divisive e-swagger. For example (this one’s my own):

John McCain and Barack Obama are approached by a homeless person asking for a little change to get a bus ticket to the homeless shelter. Obama gives a speech about hope, and then gives the man a bus ticket. McCain tells him to get a job, then kills the shelter’s funding and spends it on declaring war against Iran.

Sound like the basis for anything remotely useful? Didn’t think so.

I’m surprised I haven’t received that in my e-mail yet! That is great!

ebeeee: It’s true. Google dunkin donuts commercials and maybe you can find it. It was pullled off the air. I know because I saw it on “The View”. I get all my news that way :)

Re RR and the scarf in the DD commercial – what I heard/read was that the wardrobe people chose the scarf for her to wear and it looks like a keffiyeh. DD pulled the ad because it caused a little bit of an uproar.

She is wearing a paisley scarf that is white and black. It is not her scarf, but one that was given to her …the reason she was wearing the scarf was b/c the ice coffee was so cold.

LOL! When I read the title of this thread I thought it was a discussion about College Confidential and Naviance getting sold to Hobsons (Collegeview.com) and the differences we might see in the future!

cute joke but facts contradict the reality of it. As President of the Harvard Law Review Obama could have gotten any law position or clerkship in the country. Instead he returned to Chicago to resume community work he had begun after graduating from Columbia University. When he began to practice law he joined a local firm representing community organizers, pursuing discrimination claims and voting rights cases. He also spent time on real estate transactions, filing incorporation papers and defending clients against minor lawsuits.

Did Obama have political ambitions? Very likely. But McCain did too stating that he could do more good in politics upon resigning from the USNavy in 1981.

Begger: USA

A group of smartly dressed people walk by and each give the begger a Euro.
