The Diploma

Does the undergrad diploma list what the degree is in? (ie: Bachelor of Arts in History, Psychology…)

I’m a forty-something alum so I make no claim that things haven’t changed over time, but I just checked my husband’s and mine and ours both say just “Bachelor of Arts.” (We were both WCAS.) Mine says “with distinction” underneath it.

They both do indicate that we got our degrees from the College of Arts & Sciences at Northwestern University (it wasn’t Weinberg back then), so presumably the diplomas just call out the school (e.g., Tech, Medill, WCAS) and the type of degree (BS, BA), but not the actual major. Frankly, the printing of that could be quite complicated if the school had to issue diplomas bearing each person’s major on it. And since I was a double major in Economics and Mathematical Methods in the Social Sciences, it would have to have been a really small font to fit it all in!

Great thanks

While the diploma does not state your major, when an employer checks the accuracy of your application with the school, they can find out your major at that time-fyi-
