There is a picture of a really really handsome labrador in the cover of the viewbook. Has anyone seen it? Can any current student tell me whose dog is it? Btw …are we allowed to have pets??? I have heard some colleges allow goldfish, cats and small dogs. Is Williams like that? That would be just awesome!!:D

Not sure what dog is in the viewbook. A professor’s dog, maybe? Several profs keep their dogs in their offices around campus during the day. Students can’t have pets in the dorms other than fish, as far as I know. Certainly no dogs or cats. I know someone who had a rat in the dorm (kept after the end of some experiment), and while she never got in any trouble, it was basically up to the custodians to report her or not and it could have gone either way.

So, no animals in the dorms. Sorry.

ohh shucks. I will miss my dog like hell when i got there :(. I guess there are always cows. Hope they are friendly though.

don’t know about that nox - the texas longhorn looks pretty intimidating…horns upto 6 feet wide, WOW!

Gulp! six feet horns?? I am a bit scared of cows. Was chased by a particularly grouchy one once.

Technically that would be a bull. There are no bulls in Williamstown-just cows. It’s like a bovine version of Smith

Oh good! Another time i was kicked very near the crotch by a bull. Another few inches and it would have permanently hindered by ability to reproduce.

btw, is it true that starting from this year, freshmen are not going to have roomies? The new housing policy seemed to have created quite a controversy in the campus. Is Mission better than the other dorms?

Cows, for the most part, are not-aggressive. You can generally walk up to them and pet them. However, cows who need to be milked can be quite ornery.

Mission was recently renovated, and I have no idea what the interior now looks like. I lived in Morgan my freshman year, which was definitely one of the most convenient campus locations.

Freshman are all going to live in either the Frosh Quad or Mission next year. Mission is all singles, and the Frosh Quad is a mix of doubles and singles (probably half and half, or close to it). So, not that many frosh will have roommates next year, but the number of sophomore doubles will go up a bit as the dorms that used to be frosh housing turn in to upperclass housing. Morgan, I think, is the exception. It’s being gutted this summer and turned in to almost all singles. East and Faye will still have a mix of doubles and singles, as far as I know.

i’ve been following the debate over the new cluster system…to current ephs or alums: aside from the practical stuff (having career services and other offices take services directly to students, the number of freshman singles etc.) is this system likely to make much of a difference to campus life and campus vibe overall?

Eh, it’ll all work out in the end I’m sure. Just going to be a different feel.
Also, in reference to the dog… my prof brings her dog to class all the time and he wanders around the classroom (until she yells at him to behave). Cute dog. Name’s boris.

I was just wondering which specific classes the professors bring their dogs too. I love dogs and I wouldn’t mind having a class with a dog around. ;)

My philosophy professor brought his dog to class once. She was so pretty! You see dogs on campus quite a bit, even though students aren’t allowed pets (other than fish, I think?).

I very much miss my dog, but that was inevitable. It’s nice to see other dogs around campus, though. By the way, the other day I saw a dog that looked like a big old bear! He was so adorable and well-behaved. Quite awesome.

The class where the prof brings the dog is Oceanography… which is an amazing class!! (Particularly because Div 3 is where I’m lacking) Not a lot of work, mainly because her lectures are very organized, very interesting, and her midterms (althought somewhat picky) primarily come from what she’s explained in her lectures… not usually from textbook.

hey noxious, what kind of dog do you have?

Ohh! Hi!

I have a long coat German Shepherd (Alsatian)! His name is Sunny. He is kinda boisterous but absolutely adorable!:D

:)
I have two dogs, and I’m totally with you about missing them like hell at college. They’re Spinoni, Italian Retrievers- one just turned 8 and the other’s coming up on his second birthday. they’re very good-looking, if I may say so myself :D

Yeahh! Dogs are great! So are cats (i used to have 3).
