The Dreaded "H" Procedure

I am scheduled for hemorrhoidectomy Monday, it’s a minor procedure, but I am so worried about the recovery period after having read some horror stories.

Anyone on CC had the experience who don’t mind sharing? You can pm me.

did they try banding first?

look if you need it just get it done…short term discomfort is worth the fix,

My husband had a tough time with it and ended up hospitalized for five days. Had complications due to existing heart issues and a recurrence of c-dif infection. Good news was that let him have morphine (last thing you need after painful rectal surgery is diarrhea from c-dif).

Not fun, but it ends. Just don’t do what he did. They took him off the morphine and gave him a sleeping pill one night. He tore out his IV’s, took off his gown and ran stark naked down the hallway spewing blood (on blood thinners cause of the heart) everywhere.

Compared to that, you’ll do fine! Be sure to get the pain relieving suppository.

H had this done. Take the pain killers and stay ahead of the pain. Pain killers cause constipation so make sure you follow Drs orders. Keep stools soft with miralax or something similiar. Drink lots of fluids. It will take time to heal. You will find a perfect dose of stool softener to help you Hang in there. Follow Drs. orders. Be good to yourself.
