Tramell Tillman choked me up with that thank you to his mom. 
I know little about Nate Bargatze - other than he’s local and he is on the recording at the airport telling you to check bag tags or whatever.
Is he that well known? That funny?
Seemed a low profile host choice - to me.
Stephen Colbert opened the show. I don’t know Nate either but also to me it’s not if you’re well known, it’s if you’re funny. I thought he did well setting up the Boys and Girls Club thing.
I think he is hysterical. Been a fan for a long time.

Nate is the top grossing male comedian in the US. We saw him, Jim Gaffigan, Jerry Seinfeld, and Sebastian Maniscalco at the Hollywood Bowl last year. He’s pretty funny. Nice guy, too. His opening act was a send up of his SNL George Washington (not the school 
) set. He’s definitely a Hollywood outsider, though, to @tsbna44’s point.
Leanne Morgan, also from Tennessee, presented earlier and is the top grossing female comedian in the country.

Interesting - never heard of her. I’ll wikipedia her - that’s what I did with Nate.
I just saw Paul Reiser - ehhhh - not very funny - but a lot more cursing than I would have thought - not a ton, but maybe 10-12 curse words. According to wikipedia, Nate is clean. I’m sure it’s harder to be funny that way - but it’s a great skillset if you can make that happen.

Wow - Leanne Morgan is 60 but just started in comedy 5 years ago. What a great story!!
Oh, she’s been doing comedy a lot longer than that, but she finally hit it big about five years ago when she hired some kids to work on her social media and clips started to go viral.
Oh, ok - her wikipedia said active since 2020. Interesting. I’ll have to check out clips of both home state heroes.
Her Netflix series is perfect mindless TV. It’s one I watched before bed to wind down.

I had to finish the show while exercising - actually I think my DVR didn’t get the last award or two - but I have to say that the competition was STIFF in a few categories! Happy for Noah Wylie (gosh he seems like such a nice guy) to get the lead actor drama Emmy but was hoping that Adam Scott got it for Severance (selfishly, he’s one of my fav Hollywood guys and I think the show is 
!!!)

I love all kinds of comedy, I’m not easy to offend, but I do like Nate and the fact that his comedy is clean, he does it well. He’s not local although he does perform here, but I know of him from streaming.

He has a contract. He makes a lot of money. He’s paid to take the high road.
His contract isn’t being renewed.
There’s no guarantee.
He’s making obscene millions a year.
He has nothing to be displeased about.
