I understand he is still under contract, is very wealthy, and (more importantly) seems to have a happy marriage and lovely children. Certainly life is very good (despite earlier tragedy) for Mr. Colbert.
Still IMO many would have used the platform of the Emmys to complain about (not thank) CBS and/or make some kind of political statement. So my comment stands – Classy speech IMO.
If you dont have the same opinion @tsbna44 tsbna44 we can agree to disagree.
I think he costs a lot of money and Paramount was struggling - hence a stock in the toilet and the new buyers, yes friends of Trump, but are about the bottom line.
I mean South Park isn’t good for Trump but it is good for business. And they gave those guys a mint.
PLEASE don’t put words in my mouth. My ONLY comment was that I thought his speech was classy. I NEVER said the non-renewal of the contract was political. Fact is, I dont know. But as far as I’ve gather, there was no effort made to tighten the show budget (as was done on other network late night shows) and see if the #1 late night show could possibly continue and be profitable.
Since we don’t have the facts, I suggest we end this digression.
