The end of summer blues...

^^^

Why can’t you walk in the snow? Buy some boots and/or snowshoes and go outside!! You’ll be happier if you get some fresh air and exercise.

…because I do not want to break my old bones, walking in boots is NOT walking by my standard, I like to walk fast. I am very happy after my morning swim anyway, “happier” might mean a bit too much for the work environment, LOL. I go out when they clean the streets, but I prone to fall…

Even though the humidity drives me crazy at times, sunshine and warmth and water - these are the things I love most about Florida. Never, ever miss the fall funk knowing that winter is right around the corner.

September is some of the best summer weather you can get. I’ll get back to you in October. #enjoytoday

Now is the time that those of us in Phoenix are hoping our days of being sequestered inside are coming to a close. Cabin fever is real.

^^we get some of that in Florida @TempeMom. It’s nice when the sun goes down a little earlier and the edge is off the heat.

It’s going to be in the high 80’s low 90’s this week in upstate NY so I will still be outside on my deck enjoying the nice weather. I also like some rain since its been weeks without a drop and my shrugs are feeling the stress.

I love fall when there are warmish days and cool nights - up until we change the clocks back - then it’s awful.

I agree with @abasket. Now is the time I like to go to the beach, go eat some seafood, etc. The temps are more pleasant and the tourists are much fewer.

I love the long days and more flexible schedules of summer. So for that I am sorry to see it go. But weather wise, it’s all about the same here in So Cal, so I don’t mind at all.

Do you know the Scandinavian concept of hygge? It’s basically just being cozy in the winter months. I’ve been pursuing that for last two years and it makes the grey months better. Little things like having a hot cup of tea in a special mug and a shortbread every afternoon, lighting candles at night, making sure there are cozy throws on the couch, trying to take walks in the cold and then planning on a hot toddy or cocoa when we get back. Makes the winter days seem like a treat instead of a punishment. I love summer but sometimes there is so much pressure to go, go, go when it’s beautiful outside-it’s nice to take the time to relax at home.

I HATE winter. I have a lab that demands a walk every evening rain, snow, or sleet. In the summer, doing our half mile walk around the block I constantly talk to people who say they love and miss winter. All summer, I can’t walk the dog past 3 houses without having to stop and chit chat with someone outside in their yard or walking the block.

However, when winter comes around I am the only one outside drudging through the cold and snow. The entire block is deserted as everyone hides inside. I have learned a full snowmobile suit helps me get through those walks and I don’t need to spend 30 minutes bundling up for a 15 minute walk.

Oh, I see the “Winter Lovers” during the winter… but only as they drive by, pull into their garage and close the door behind them to avoid the elements. I think many love winter because they can cocoon in-doors for 4 months and wear thick clothes that conceal body fat.

I understand someone that likes winter because they ski or snowboard. But in Michigan, the only place to ski around here are the giant garbage hills they turned into mini ski slopes.

In the summer, with the long days and warm weather I practically live outside when not working. Fall is ok, as it is the start of Football but it gets old after November, December, January, February, March, and April roll around.

Moving south first chance I get so I am not wasting 50% of my life hiding from the elements.

^i have two dogs that I walk every day. I dreaded having to take them out in the cold (I don’t work so take them in the afternoon a bit before it gets dark.) I finally splurged last fall on a very expensive long down coat that is supposed to be good up to 40 below. Of course, because I bought this very expensive coat, I had to unexpectly spend all winter in SFla after my mother took a bad tumble. I did wear it once when I got home in March but it was a bit too warm out, though chilly, and I was broiling by the end of the block.

Cold does not bother me at all when I walk, only snow. Our neighborhood does not get cleaned well if at all. Downtown where I work, is better though, but I have fallen there also and had to finish my work day in very dirty pants…has happened, I have to keep this in mind. I have a long down coat that I consider donating, maybe I have donated it already…I have not been wearing it for many years. I also have a shorter down coat, also not being worn, just too much, too warm.

I’m in Southern California at the beach. September is usually our hottest month, with August a close second. October is often hot and sunny, too. June is generally overcast and gloomy, and the “June gloom” often extends a bit into July. So, in terms of temperatures and sunshine, we are smack in the middle of the hottest temps and sunniest days, which will continue for at least another month.

Nonetheless, I am going to miss the long days, the good stone fruit and the tomatoes of summer.

This has been a bad summer for swimming in the ocean because there are numerous great white sharks hanging around the Southern California coastline all summer (with one great white attack). So there’s a bit of a feeling of not having had a full summer.

I love waking to sunshine in my eyes in the summer; it lifts my mood all day. I dread the late fall and winter days of waking up in the dark.

I love fall and winter! “Maine spring” is an oxymoron, though - that’s the season that’s hard for me - March through May.

In my humble opinion, dog walking is at its best at 45-55 degrees. Cool when you first go out but you warm up fast and don’t get sweaty.

The perfect temperature for running is supposed to be 52 degrees.

^^Only if you’re a malamute or a husky!

I have to agree - my dog seems most peppy and happy in that 50ish range. And as someone who runs, I’d have to go with mid-50’s as pretty good too! Once you’re running you add about 20 degrees for a “feels like” temp - so, mid 70’s is about perfect as weather gets!

I live in SE Fl. On Sunday’s, if not raining, I go to gym then to beach, where I meet a gym friend. The ocean has bees so great. I will truly miss this.
