The End of the Journey: Thanks CC.

Our son’s second New York showcase was last evening (4/7/15), marking the end of his college requirements. He is no longer a college student.

In the Spring of 2010, (our son’s senior year) he had a revelation that he would like to pursue an acting (specifically a Musical Theatre) career. Many of his friends were going to the mysterious BFA programs around the country so we just thought, “Oh, he’ll just do that too.” (ahhhhhh…to be naïve again!)

The interweb research began and wha-la, College Confidential!

I think we all must admit, there is a lot of whiny drivel to wade through on this site (which, not gonna lie, I’ve added my fair share) but there are also many nuggets of invaluable info buried within, that it’s worth the digging.

He was admitted to his preferred school and I’ve been a lurker and sporadic poster for the last 4-years.

Now, we no longer have a BFA student in our family.

We do now have a New Yorker.

Grateful for CC.

Thanks for your input ManVan! I’ve read many a “vintage” thread on CC, and have appreciated your posts. Whatever whining you may have done (not that I noticed) was surely outweighed by your sage advice and commentary. Agreed: There are nuggets of Truth and Wisdom worth foraging for here on CC. I am a bargain hunter, and for me, it is worth sorting through the sometimes repetitive, self-serving garbage to find original and insightful contributions of quality. Thank you for paying it forward in the very best of ways. The very best to you and yours!

@ManVan…hope you check in from time to time as hearing about your son’s professional journey will be exciting to follow too. Break a leg wishes to him on this next chapter!

Congratulations to your S @ManVan as he walks into the light of the Great White Way. And thank you for our valuable input. Please keep sharing. Is it possible you will be going through this AGAIN in a few years?. . .

Congrats to your S!! And I hope the “where did the cast of xyz” from you don’t stop!

I hope those “where did the cast of xyz” posts will soon include your son, @manvan (and please indicate with an asterisk, if so)

Congratulations to your son, and thank you for the information!

Congratulations, @ManVan… exciting times!! I’ve really appreciated the mutual support our class has offered over the years. It’s been fun sharing this journey with you and, as others have said, I can’t wait to see what the future holds!

Unnecessary Roughness.

Nice call @MomCares

Thank you @manvan for your openness and honesty…sending best wishes <3
