The "Extra-Curriculur Cramming"

It is currently my junior year, and i therefore have about 9 months before i start seriously finishing my applications and therefore my resumé. I was looking to start a political journal, as I’ve recently discovered my love for global politics and want to take it all the way. However, im worried that late participation in such a huge project would be seen by colleges as “fake” or “not genuine,” and they would consequently question the integrity of my entire application. What is your opinion or knowledge of how colleges view late ECs? If I do this large-scale journal now, will it hurt me when i focus my essay on its importance to me?

Thanks!!!

If you’re worried it will call into question the integrity of your application, then do it anyway and don’t include it in your application. I think another path you could take would be explaining how your interest in global politics developed, how realizing this passion led you to start a political journal, how you plan to develop your journal past high school, and what your future career plans are regarding global politics.

I think your list on the other thread is already in need of serious culling for actual relevance (e.g. a book award? member of anything? ). Don’t feel you need to add more minutiae.
