The FAT Envelope has Landed!

The trick works already?? MidwestDad2…do tell us. Which Explore session? And congratulations!!

After you login, click on the first reserve link (for explore USC), it should display the following:

“Congratulations on your admission and selection as a USC Trustee Scholarship candidate. As you read in your invitation letter, all Trustee candidates are required to attend one of our Explore USC programs and participate in a scholarship interview.”

Wow!!

Yes! The “trick” worked! I logged into my son’s account and clicked on Explore…
Here it is:

Congratulations on your admission and selection as a USC Trustee Scholarship candidate. As you read in your invitation letter, all Trustee candidates are required to attend one of our Explore USC programs and participate in a scholarship interview.

That’s it!

We are VERY excited and happy!!!

Sorry! We were posting at the same time!

BTW, congrats to you and your son, midwestDad2!

The trick works! I’m a Trustee candidate too! :D

Ah congrats to all!

Just wondering, what are the dates for the Explore programs?

I haven’t even gotten a status change yet. :frowning: Oh well, I’ll still keep hoping! :D

Feb 22
Feb 25

“Congratulations on your admission to USC!” guess no scholarship interview for me :(

Congratulations…I can feel your excitement!

Explore sessions in the past have been in late February for Trustee candidates and early March for Presidentials. I remember my D went on February 25/26.
Interviews are on the second day.

@123collegeforme - I thought USC only admits scholarship candidates in January?

I hope so! Maybe I should trust the “trick” as a reliable way of finding out. My stats really are not amazing though, so I wouldn’t be surprised if I didnt get an interview.

Congratulations, future Trustees!

Here are some secret dates for those all-important 2010 Explore interviews. Two are Trustee dates and 3 are for Presidential:

Tuesday, Feb. 23
Friday, Feb. 26
Tuesday, Mar. 2
Friday, Mar. 5
Tuesday, Mar. 9

Fight on!

The first two are Trustee. They’re actually February 22-23 (the actual interview is on the 23rd), and February 25-26 (interview on the 26th).

Right, soad. It is awesome to come to the USC Explore sessions and find yourself surrounded by students of similar achievements, and their proud parents, too.

Of course many of you will have lots of college choices down the line, but make sure to look at USC carefully, soak up the atmosphere, happy students, beautiful weather, and talk with people in your intended major. My S is supremely happy he chose USC!

Just curious - are there a lot of scholarship candidates who go to the Explore sessions without their parents? I mean, is there a significant role for parents there? I’m out-of-state, and I’m not sure if my parents are going to end up sending me alone.

This is completely each family’s own call. You will be in separate programs from the parents, will stay overnight with a student on campus, and so on. For any parent who is seriously considering sending their student to USC, I think attending the Explore session gives the best info with a very personal twist. For example, we went to a parents dinner and were seated at a table with a full professor from our S’s major who was happy to talk to us about the pros (and even cons) of the SCA, their plans for the future, and even answer our curious questions about how the Trustee program works. My S was very serious about USC, we live in SoCal, and it was a great event.

OTOH, we met many parents of students who seemed less set on USC before they arrived. Some of these had their eyes opened and were much more pro-USC by the end of Explore. To be frank, I met a few parents who were waiting for Harvard or MIT to accept their students. I love to people-watch and found the drama and individual stories fascinating.

However, for you students, just keep yourselves focused on looking around, seeing how well you think the university fits for you, and give a great interview! ;)

Just wanted to drop by and say congratulations to everyone who was accepted today! Good luck on your interviews, and fight on!

Possibly a dumb question, Did the letters (or rather, packages) arrive by USPS with your regular mail, or separately, like at a different time by UPS or FEDex?
