The first grandmother is loving Washington

<p>After having been dragged from Chicago to Washington, Marian Robinson is finding that she loves her life there. She spends some time caring for Sasha and Malia, but she also attends state dinners and events, has become a regular at the Kennedy Center where she meets the performers, has visitors from Chicago. I am so happy for her.</p>

<p>I saw that article and discovered how her kids ended up being so athletic… she was running the 50-yard and 100-yard dashes well into her 60s in the Illinois senior games. Sounds like she has not slowed down into her 70s, either.</p>

<p>I want to be her when I grow up.</p>

<p>the sad part is, she’s probably still in better shape than I am.</p>

<p>Sweet! She sounds like a good mother and a good grandmother.</p>

<p>Why shouldn’t she love Washington DC? She never has to worry about parking, one of the few downsides to a great city.</p>

<p>I’m happy that it’s worked out for all of them, but especially for Sasha and Malia. For them, being able to maintain a close relationship with their grandmother is so wonderful. My grandmother lived with us for part of my childhood, and lived close by for the rest of it, and my relationship with her was strong and close into my adult years and as a mother myself. Many of my fondest childhood and adult memories include her as a part of them, and I’m so thankful that she was around long enough for my Ds to know her and to have memories of her of their own.</p>

<p>alwaysamom, I agree, those girls could not be in better hands. It’s wonderful to have a three generational family living the White House.</p>

<p>It would be my dream to live very close to my grandchildren as they are growing up and to be able to help.</p>
