The Get Rich Quick Decade

So what do you people think of this investment banking craze going on right now? Do you think it will last?

And I was visiting Canada over the holidays and I saw that the sports channels now have poker showing, for hours at a time. Poker! It’s not even close to being a sport. (although I heard sports channels in the US show spelling bees lol) Also it seems like every second university student is addicted to internet poker to some degree.

What is up with this? Is it just a phase western cultures will move on from? It seems like in 10 years when I look back at “the 00s” in terms of social rather than political climate, I will pretty much think of people’s obsession with investment banking and people’s obsession with poker. That’s it.

Anything qualifies as a sport on ESPN anymore! They have shown spelling bees, hours and hours of poker, darts, dog shows, even the hot dog eating championships. Some are actually pretty cool, I watched some of the spelling bees, and some of the poker. I always miss the hot dog eating contest. The best thing I saw was the world championships of paper, rock scissors. (to be fair I don’t think that was on ESPN though)

I am addicted to online poker, yes.

Dude. They have MathCounts on ESPN.

In England they often show darts and snooker.

Darts and snooker do require an incredible amount of hand-eye coordination. Poker requires an ass to sit on.
