I have said all I can say - it is up to DD/SIL. DD is having me come to help her with their children while SIL flies to be at Rosary and Funeral for his cousin – it is a few days out and hope he can make the flight arrangements (funeral in El Paso TX).
how old is she?
She was 1 year and 1 week old when she started walking. That was a few weeks ago and my D says she’s now walking everywhere–no more crawling!
My granddaughter just turned 1 yesterday. I showed up for her first cake. She started kicking her chubby feet as soon as I walked through the door. She didn’t know why her house was decorated with circus theme, or why there was a cake, but she was so happy. She had to check out everything.
She started walking a month ago and now she is practically running (or she think she is). The funniest thing she does is she knows what she can touch or not, and when she is reaching for something she is not supposed to (iPhone and iPad) she’ll start shaking her head.
My GD (turned 1 at end of December) does that, too!
DD is supposed to go in for induction Thursday, and she is hoping that Covid nursing staff shortages won’t push the process back by hours or days. I am a worrywart, and I will be double-worrying, as I can’t be at her birth as I was for my grandson’s. Instead, I will be babysitting my grandson at my house, with all the lovely snuggles and joy that brings…which will hopefully keep my mind off what’s happening at the hospital. Grandbaby girl due Sunday- no name chosen yet. We mention nothing on social media, so the news is shared with just family and friends, and here on CC!
Darn. I wish I had seen this earlier! I think it is too late for my daughter to arrange for a doula, since she has an induction planned for Thursday-Friday…
Awaiting your news.
oops. Forgot to update! Beautiful squishy 8lb 6 oz baby girl born last Saturday! The induction was fast, and DD had about 8 hours of pitocin and contractions which were not particularly painful. Her water broke and things got intense fast and she requested an epidural….felt she needed to push, nurse came in and immediately called for backup. Doctor showed up and pulled on gloves and caught baby who came out in one push. No epidural or pain meds used. Such a different experience from her first 36- hour birth!
DD is recovering very well, baby nursing well, toddler adjusting fairly well, and we are all delighted. Now we await DIL and DS’s baby, due in 3-4 weeks!
D1 and husband announced last weekend they are expecting Baby #3 in September. This is a surprise baby and the timing isn’t ideal. (They’ll have 3 babies under 2 year olds. Yikes! Plus D2’s wedding is 2 weeks post D1’s due date which makes traveling very, very complicated…) But it’s a welcome baby nonetheless
This one is a boy.
D1 says it’s a conspiracy to make her buy even more baby clothes since they already have twin girls–and tons of girl clothes.
Wow. Surprise! But congratulations too!
Congratulations, @anxiousmom and family! A baby girl! Perfect! I hope you’re all doing well. It won’t be long now and you’ll be welcoming another bundle of joy. Sweet!
Congratulations, @WayOutWestMom, to you and your family! Babies are such a blessing! They are lucky to have you there to support them.
D, SIL, GS, and GD will be home from a two week vacation later this week. I have missed them terribly, but I am glad they were able to get away.
And….baby granddaughter #2 just arrived 3 weeks early, which means she is only 3 weeks younger than baby granddaughter #1! it was a fast and crazy birth- 4 hours start to finish, and DDIL needed a blood transfusion and high blood pressure meds, but all is fine now. I am snuggling Baby #1 who lives 3 minutes from my house. Next week, I go to DS and DILs house to help out for a few days. In this horrible political environment, with looming climate change, and all other challenges, we are glad for the joy of our grandchildren.
Congratulations, @anxiousmom !!
Congratulations, @anxiousmom !! Hold them close.
Congratulation @anxiousmom. Now you’ve got me excited. DS and DIL are due with their first in 2 weeks. Maybe I won’t have to wait that long??
Expecting new grandson today (or tomorrow). Please keep him in your prayers.
wow, @anxiousom- congrats!
@anxiousmom Glad everyone is OK.
Hard to gauge with the first. Just tell them to let you know early enough if something is going on during daytime hours – due to Covid they may be limiting who can go to the hospital.
DD had slow leak of amniotic fluid 3 days before due date (March 2018) during the night. The next morning DD was scheduled for a OB appt (the hospital is in the same complex just one building over), and she figured they would be sent to the hospital from her appointment (which they did) - but she didn’t call us until she was going from the Dr appt to the hospital (we are 100 miles away, and there was city road construction; also the hospital is on a major thoroughfare for after work traffic). We got there in time, but it was a scramble! Had we been on the main thoroughfare 10 or 15 minutes later we would have been on slow/stand still traffic. We got time in with them, got to meet her regular MD and delivering MD (both were excellent and delivering MD had seen her in the office at some visits as well), and saw them after delivery. DD (and I) are both RNs, so I was behind a curtain during exam times and heard all the medical information. Baby 2 was a scheduled induction. Baby 3 was during Covid times so only saw him at home.
The really good thing about baby #1 was she was born 3 days before her aunt’s college graduation - and DD2 and we were then traveling to a family wedding the following Saturday/road trip. So timing worked out grand.
