Oh @garland how scary!! So glad everything seems ok!!
Scary stuff. Being a grandparent is hard.
That must have been scary. Glad to hear she is fine.
GD was knocked flat on her back when she came up behind her dad. She fell on her head. The parents were very upset and scared. Luckily she was fine.
I think kids are a lot more resilient than us.
Eventually, she got to watch cartoons, eat a popsicle, and get a toy on the way out. Plus lots of stories to tell when she gets back to preschool tomorrow. So overall, not too bad a time!
This morning she woke up singing.
She apparently also told her little brother he’d better take good care of her today.
@garland, glad GD is ok and even happier that your GS is fine. I heard your worry when you posted about him previously.
Thanks! it’s definitely been a stress. And of course this is the week D is starting a WFH freelance gig, so not TOO much stress! But such a relief that the kids are fine. I was over there to help watch them so she could catch up after having to miss working yesterday.
DD had her baby last night (her first) . Three weeks early. But baby is happy and healthy (7lbs). Her water broke at 5AM. I was an hour away babysitting my granddaughters. I was under the impression I was not allowed to visit when she was in labor but I got a call on my way home that I could come over. I got there about 8pm and baby was born at 9:30. I had three babies but have never seen one being born. DD did great. Only one visitor per day so that will be the other grandma today.
Did she deliver in the hospital? And you were actually in the delivery room? How exciting!
Yes hospital and yes I was in the delivery room. She started to push and it went very quickly so then she had to stop pushing and wait about 10-15 minutes for the doctor to get there.
Congratulations, @tx5athome! Baby boys are a lot of fun!. What an exciting day filled with love!
Last night I asked GS if he would still snuggle with me when he is in Kindergarten next year. His answer: Of course!
My DIL was telling me funny words my granddaughter uses like “last today” instead of yesterday and “motatoes” instead of tomatoes. Her dad, my son, was exactly like this! He made up so many words. I love it.
For my GD, it’s comatoes.
Granddaughter can say “meow meow” when asked what sound does kitty cat make. But she won’t say mama.
GD first word was cat.
I would say “Mama” and “Nana” a lot to GD. GS born 14 months later, and I was their Sunday evening - Friday afternoon live in nanny mid-Mar - June 2020 when GD was turning 2 in May and GS turning 1 in July – so they got very close and use to Nana.
Their first were ma-ma and da-da but Nana was right up there.
Will see with GS2 who was born Aug 31st. We see them Saturday and also celebrate GD 4th birthday. She is excited about her class singing her happy birthday on Monday.
It appears that GD#2’s first word is “yum”, said appropriately when eating.
My niece’s first word was MINE! Can you tell she had a brother who was 19 months older and very set on protecting his toys from her?
12 month old GS has two words for sure: the dog’s name and vroom! Possibly Dada too.
GD also says vroom when she is playing with toy cars.
GD is 16 months this week. She says Mama & Dada, calls me Mmmmah, says egg, Elmo, bottle, ball in English. She has started chatting a lot, but she doesn’t say words when she does it. At least, H & I don’t think she’s saying words … she is being raised speaking Arabic when watched by the other grandparents (2-3 times a week), so H & I were just joking today about how she could be speaking in Arabic & we wouldn’t know it. The pediatrician said she may take a bit longer to speak than other kids due to being bilingual - but that it will benefit her in the long run. She follows directions in both languages.
She is extremely physical, and I am amazed by the things she can do. She watches Arabic music videos at the other grandparents’ house, and the girl has got some serious dance moves. She was dancing to The Farmer in the Dell at our house today, and she danced up a storm!
Now if we could just get her to stop guzzling water in the bathtub & from her water table!
