The Grandparent Thread

The tea set I bought GD is from Green Toys. It’s well made.

I’ve become a big fan of Green Toys. Kids have a beach set, some trucks, a rescue helicopter and boat. All very simple and get a ton of use.

I’ll have to check out Green Toys.

We are returning home tomorrow after being gone for 3 1/2 weeks. I told D - I hope GD remembers us! We will see on Monday. D reports that while we were gone GD has gotten her first teeth, discovered her feet and now has more hair!

Twin B is becoming quite the barista. She makes my pour over decaf for me every morning. Daddy helps by reaching the ceramic mug off the shelf, filling the hot water kettle and pouring the water. But B takes the filter paper out of the box, opens it, puts it in the drip cone, then measures out the ground coffee and tells Daddy when the water is hot enough to pour. I can see there’s a job at Starbucks in her future…

No toy doctor sets for the twins–they play with Mommy’s real stethoscope, otoscope and thermometer. Knufflebunny and Tiger get doctored all the time. They also get diapered all the time, but we’ve finally managed to convince A to use the pretend diaper cream not the Destin. (If any one ever needs to know how to get Destin off clothing or stuffed animal and dolls… I’ve become an expert.)

Are you grandsons allowed to urinate in the backyard or Sam’s Club parking lot? I know he is almost 3, but I find this offensive. Am I a prude?

Absolutely not!

If they’re allowed to do that in a parking lot or yard, would they also feel free to urinate on the playground during recess?

That reminds me of when my son was 2 and already potty trained. My husband let him pee behind a tree when at the park, as there was no bathroom nearby. Fast forward a month or so later; so goes running past me, through the kitchen to the outside door. I asked where he was going, and he replied, “To tee tee tree!” We had a big talk about when in the house, we use the toilet, and reserve outside for emergencies.

My DIL and son had their second child, a boy, 2 days ago; it was a planned induction. My husband and I came to town earlier to help with the 4 year old and for Mardi Gras. DIL has had 2 easy labors and deliveries; I am amazed at how well she has done.

DIL’s parents came in town yesterday. I laughed out loud how many time both her mother and myself would say to the 4 year old, be carefully, or suck our breath in as the very rambunctious 4 year old was bouncing around near the baby. Instead of one nervous grandmother, there are two; there is comfort in numbers. :joy:

Grand baby #4 (a boy) (#3 for my son) was born yesterday. Original due date was 3/4, but ultrasound due date was 3/10. I live 70 miles away. Local grandma is a volleyball coach and had a tournament yesterday and today so I drove down to spend the day/ night with my granddaughters. Labor went so fast that by the time my DIL asked for the epidural it was too late. She says now she knows what a 10 on the pain scale is. They came home today. Everybody is happy and healthy. :sunglasses:

Both DH and I broke bones within a day of each other on the ski slopes in January, but we were determined, and succeeded, in traveling cross country last week to celebrate 2 of the grandkids’ birthdays. We stayed in a hotel rather than older s’s house due to stairs, but we made it! Best decision we made- so glad we went. Great goal to work towards.

@snowball, I think you can “win” the whatcha doin’ this weekend thread. Getting a new grandchild even beats the last post I viewed on a wonderful vacation :grinning:
