Brown Bear Brown Bear, What Do You See?
Preschoolers like books that they can participate in - like finish the rhyming sentence (like Brown Bear above) or guess what will be on the next page (Is Your Mama A Llama). By them having some participation they will be better listeners - they will be active listeners because they are anxiously awaiting their turn to respond!
I was a guest reader last year in GD’s 3 year old class. I read several of the Pete the Cat books. They loved it. I also read one of the Ladybug Girl books, but I lost the class on that one. GD loves these books, but the plot didn’t move quick enough for this group.
I’m gearing up to read to the 4 year old class soon and I’m also anxious for suggestions.
The Cat Who Wore a Pot On Her Head.It is hilarious and it will probably be new to most of the kids.https://www.amazon.com/Cat-Who-Wore-Pot-Head/dp/0590409778#:~:text=The%20Cat%20Who%20Wore%20a,9780590409773%3A%20Amazon.com%3A%20Books
My granddaughter loves “Loves how do Dinosaurs say goodnight”. They read it every night.
Granddaughter has hand, foot and mouth and how my son-in-law is sick. He said it’s the sickest he has ever been. No work for my daughter this week as GD can’t go to the babysitter.
I am highly recommending the kids wheelbarrow from Costco. Both my two year old GS and 15 month old GD are loving it. GS came over yesterday and he wheeled it all over the yard, raked and put his rolly Polly collection in it.
GD in another household uses her wheelbarrow and rake to clean the hay in their horse barn.
I went to see GD last night. Today she said to me while we were having breakfast, “I think of you in my head.” I said, “I miss you when I am not with you too.”
GD is spending the night with me so mom and dad can have “date night” which means going out for pizza and in bed by 9:00!
As my daughter said, “At least we don’t have to get up at 6:30.”
I was told while GD was eating dinner that I made the best pasta ever; glad I didn’t have to pull out the heavy cooking skills to keep her happy! We are currently watching A Bug’s Life. If not for the early wake up time, I could do this every weekend; I am more of a late owl than an early bird, but for the littles, I am happy to do it.
I got to feed my 12 month old GD solids for the first time today! My DIL taught her how to use some sign language so she use it to ask for water, more food or I am done no more. It’s so cute! Tomorrow we get to babysit full day as her parents need to pack for her first trip to Paris next week.
Some of you may have read it in another thread…D1 is pregnant with another baby girl. The baby is due September. We are thrilled. It’s going to rock GD’s world.
Wonderful news, @oldfort ! My GD adores (most of the time) being a big sister, so I bet yours will too. Cheers to the whole oldfort family!
Though, I was having lunch with DS(almost 3) while Big Sis (5)was at school, and asked what some trinket toy on the table was. He wasn’t sure but knew it belonged to her, then added “And she will say ‘don’t touch that!’ when she gets back from school!'” So yeah, a little territorial, lol.
My niece’s first, very clear, word at about 10 months old was ‘MINE’ as she heard it 20 times a day from her big brother. I think she thought it was his name.
Another early word was ‘stuck’ as he would push her walker into a corner and she couldn’t turn around.
They actually were best friends and still are 37 years later.
