I spent the day watching my 2 month old grandson and my 2month old grand puppy while my daughter and her husband went to an NFL game. The other grandma watched their two year old.
We are helping out our son-in-law with the 21 month old. Our daughter is away on a trip and we are here for 8 days and are on day 4. She has changed so much since we last saw her, talking more and very independent. She is very attached to her Mom so it’s actually been nice having our daughter not here. She came down with a bad cold and today was a hard day. Up at 5 am, ready for a nap at 9. Fever and a bad runny nose. Motrin has done wonders and she went to bed happy. Hoping she feels better tomorrow. Tomorrow the plan is to go to the park if she’s feeling okay. Tuesday she is scheduled for preschool and we have plans to go to Napa for the day. If she is sick we will cancel Napa. Loving this extended period of time with her.
Last night D1 asked me to stay over in case she went into labor. This morning she said she thinks it has started, but not to a point that she is going to the hospital yet. She told me that I could go to work and her husband could get GD1 to school. I waited for GD1 to wake up before I left, and I think it was a mistake. She started to cry and wanted me to stay. It was hard to run out the door. The good thing is I will see her this afternoon. Fingers crossed that the baby will come today.
I have to ask - did your child have a new baby and get new puppy at the same time?
Yes my daughter’s 4 year old Labrador died of a brain tumor when my daughter was a couple weeks from delivery. So they decided they “needed” a new puppy. So they have a 2 year old, a newborn and a new puppy. When she goes back to work in November we will watch the newborn and the puppy three days a week. We have a 5 year old lab who “helps” with the puppy.
WOW - sounds like they will be busy.
I just became a Po-Po again. GD2 was born last night at 11:30. She was 7lb15oz. They induced labor because D1 just didn’t want to wait any more and she was feeling some contractions anyway. The labor was very fast and intense from 8-11:30. I have been on the babysitting duty since yesterday and will be here until tomorrow when they come back from the hospital.
This is my Born to Run GD. She just made it to have the same birthday as Sprinsteen.
Congratulations to the entire happy family!
Congratulations!!!
Congratulations to all!
@oldfort Congratulations to you and your family!
Love that new GD shares a birthday with Bruce!
Congrats oldfort!!!
So are they going to name her Mary, Terry, Sherry, or maybe Candy? Sandy?
Anyway, much congratulations!
Haha. She has a western name, but has Chinese meaning. It’s a beautiful name. I was pleasantly surprised.
Here is the kicker, the older one is a blondie, and this one is more Asian looking.
Here is a recipe we make after a woman has had a baby. It helps to warm up body and gets rid of impurities in the body.
Ginger
Black sesame oil
A bottle of sake
Chicken
Use sesame oil like cooking oil. Heat it, and put sliced gingers in it. Brown cut up chicken in the oil/ginger. Pour a bottle of sake in it. Season it with salt pepper to taste. Let it cook slowly for an hour.
Second time around both D1 and son in law are enjoying it.
We tell women to not leave hair wet for too long, not to stay out in the cold and eat more warm food for the first 30 days after giving birth. This would prevent arthritis in the future. Try to get as much rest
Congratulations!!!
Congratulations!
Thanks for sharing the recipe and what your tradition recommends. Your love for your family shines bright. They are lucky grandchildren to have you in their lives.
🩷 Congratulations, oldfort, to you and your family! Enjoy every snuggle! 🩷
Oldfort, I’ll try that recipe tonight. I just defrosted a chicken and always have sake.
Your life sounds wonderful and full
Congratulations!
