I mean, yes, that’s my normal habit too. This just happened to be, GD needs a coat, Grandma can order it. It wasn’t meant to be a present or treat. I too am mindful of not wanting to favor anyone–just needed to realize how it felt to GS. Lesson learned.
Oops, when I was a kid we had an unwritten sibling rule. The rule was if any parent asked about any offense the answer was “I don’t know did it”.
Mr. Nobody
I know a funny little man,
As quiet as a mouse,
Who does the mischief that is done
In everybody’s house.
There’s no one ever sees his face,
And yet we all agree
That every plate we break was cracked
By Mr., Nobody
‘Tis he who always tears our books,
who leaves our doors ajar;
he pulls the buttons from our shirts,
and scatters pins afar,
that squeaking door will always squeak,
because of this you see:
we leave the oiling to be done
by Mr Nobody.
He puts damp wood upon the fire,
So kettles cannot boil;
His are the feet that bring in mud
And all the carpets soil.
The papers always are mislaid,
Who had them last but he?
There’s no one tosses them about
But Mr. Nobody.

The Family Circus cartoon had good visual showing of Mr Nobody and other similarly names characters.
Today was the final race of the fall Healthy Kids racing series. In the standings going into today’s race, Twin A was in 4th place and Twin B was in 3rd.
They ran—and someone pushed/tripped Twin A who went down hard, had the wind knocked out of her, but got up and finished with tears streaming down her face. Her sister finished in the top 3 or 4.
At the trophy ceremony, Twin B got a 3rd place finisher for the series, but Twin A was awarded a special Spirit trophy for the participant who best demonstrates what it is to be sportsperson-- if you fall, you get up and finish even if you have no chance of winning.
I’m so darned proud of both kids! (Even if I did have to listen to the Monkey Poop song TWICE because Dad promised that anyone won a trophy could pick any song they wanted in the car going home.)
We went over to MD this weekend to stay with granddaughters 3 y.o. and 5 y.o. I am so tired. But it was sweet. They were so good.
My son and DIL dis a getaway to NYC and as one thing, they saw “Suffs”. My DIL really loved it. One of the cast members is an old friend of hers. They were so appreciative and said they really needed this getaway. How I remember! Only we had no grandparents nearby to spot us. So I have made it a promise to help them whenever I can.
Same here. I am so happy to be able to help D and SIL as we had no one near to do the same for us.
We went back to NoVA this weekend to attend a wedding. GD did wonderfully on the flight there, coming back was a bit rougher. But she had her first haircut (family friend who is a stylist) and did beautifully staying in the hotel suite with D’s BFF while we were all at the wedding.
If anyone is thinking of buying a Tonie Box , D alerted me that they are on sale at Target. I will be ordering one today.
P.S. And of course now I’m sick.
Hugs. Oh those cute little Petri dishes! Just recovered from a mystery bug that we suspect was brought by one of ours.
The rains have arrived in full force! The rainsuit I recently bought for the littlest one got tested this weekend! Judging by the depth of the puddles this kid wades into, a rainsuit and boots are not enough. She needs a scuba diving outfit!
Adorable! What suit and boots did you buy?
The boots I think are regular baby Bogs. Kid got them herself. The suit is from REI:

Not cheap but in our neck of the woods, a rain suit is must have outerwear.
Thanks
One of the grands lives on horse and orchard property and is outside everyday. She loves to do horse chores and fix things outside so the rain suit would come in handy. She loves playing in the dirt.
My GD also loves to play in puddles as big as lakes. Your post reminds me that I need to get her new boots - she just outgrew the boots we keep here!
Cute update:
SIL said when he went in to wake Twin A up for breakfast this morning, she was hugging her trophy in bed. Apparently she took it to bed with her last night and slept with it.
We took our GS to church and then had him hang out with us for the afternoon while his mom rested (she’d been sick for a couple of days). It was a blast. He came to the soccer game I was coaching and loved running around the edge of the field and watching the big kids.
DD finally shared on Facebook that they are expecting child #5 in March 2025 (#4 had a ‘big sis’ tee shirt on and they said what’s this - not a Halloween costume).
So I have been busy with an email to my sister who is not on Facebook, and also responding to friends’ posts.
We saw DD during first week in October, and anyone who saw her would know she was expecting - momma of 4 kids 6 and under is going to show at this time in her pregnancy.
My dil suggested a yoto for the granddaughter. I found it on amazon.
Do you think it will be a big seller or can I wait for Black Friday and see if I can find it on sale?
Interested in hearing feedback on the yoto. D has mentioned it as possible option for first grade GD in FL.
I got it last year on Black Friday from Target.
