all of a sudden all other forms of exercise are more appealing. Even the cool down is exhausting.

Funny. Which one is it?

Dancing with the Stars Latin dances. I think of myself as a really good dancer so thought this would be fun (and people on here recommended zumba, though I couldn’t find a zumba tape), but the girls are in heels on a dance floor and I’m in sneakers on carpet so I’m not as smooth as I would like. And Cheryl Burke demonstrates a dance move in slow-mo that looks doable, but then when she “syncopates” it – her favorite word – it looks ridiculously complicated. The one gloriously bright spot is that every other segment is taught by Maksim, who could make me do damn near anything.

You should try doing your exercise in my vacuuming shoes :D

It only takes 10 minutes.

I downloaded a quick Pilates thing from exercise tv. It is not the same as doing a full workout, but at least I do something for my back each day - or not, depending on how creative I am with my excuse-making.

what a great coaster the container makes? Mine has been sitting on the end table next to the kettlebell that goes with it for a while. One of these days I’ll take it out again…in my defense I go to the gym but the kettlebell classes cost extra and I like them but I’m too cheap to pay the extra amount (it’s like $20. per class).

I’ve done the 10 minute series which I found on youtube but it seems to have been removed. They’re good for things like abs, which I hate and would never do if it were a minute longer. And who needs more than 10 minutes of abs anyway?

10 minutes of Pilates sounds about my speed at the moment. I tried a full pilates “mat” class at my club -it was filled with 20 and 30 somethings and taught by a 60-year old from another planet. I kept up…mostly out of pride…and practically died. Hurt for a whole week. I’ll stick with my yoga class and walking and biking for now. Who needs flat abs in the winter anyway?

I’m with you. Need that winter fat to keep warm.
What is the deal with Pilates’ popularity anyway? It seems excruciating and boring to me.

Some lucky ones among us (who are going to stimulate HIMom’s economy in a month or so)do care about flat abs in the winter! :)

Youdon’tsay - sounds fun! (Zumba instructor here!)

FYI, you can find the Zumba dvd’s at zumba.com in the “shop”. Also on the website you can find classes in your area (I’m listed, if you can find me!!
)
