The Home Depot Trade Scholarship Program

The Home Depot®, the world’s largest home improvement retailer, has established its first-ever Trade Scholarship Program. Through the program, the Company will award more than 600 students enrolled in building and construction trade programs $500 to help offset the cost of tuition, fees, books and supplies. In total, more than $300,000 in scholarships will be awarded to support the future leaders of the building and construction industries this fall.

The Home Depot Trade Scholarship Program is open to students nationwide currently enrolled in a building and construction trade school program at a college, university or accredited educational institution who will be entering into the final year or term of their degree or career program. Winners will be selected based on academic performance, leadership and work experience. English and Spanish applications are available online at [Welcome to The Home Depot, Inc.
Could you give an example of a building and construction trade school program at a university? I am blanking on what program this would be. Sorry.

Many of the SUNY Technology Colleges have such programs, for example Alfred State. I assume many CCs.

The scholarship is open to full- or part-time students currently enrolled in a building and construction trade school program at a college, university or accredited educational institution in the United States. Specifically, if someone is studying to be a home builder, general contractor, carpenter, electrician, plumber, HVAC specialist, or another building and construction trade professional.

Let me know if you need more info.

Would a design and production lighting major qualify?

No, unfortunately a design and production lighting major does not qualify for this scholarship. Thanks for your query.

I am thinking this would be for scholarships to what people around here call technical schools. Just in case you think I sound snooty, let me say my family is 95 percent blue-collar (and proud of it), but the language about the program funding scholarships at a “university” threw me for a minute.

How about an adult (over 30) who returned to Community College and is currently in a welding program?

Apologies for any confusion regarding the word university. Depending on the school and program, it will apply.

Yankee Belle - there is no age limit for the scholarship eligibility - you just have to be currently enrolled in the program.

Not for me, but does welding fall into building and construction? I see it as more of a manufacturing skill. I’d like confirmation.

Yes, welding is included.

Thanks. And that was one quick answer.

Happy to help! Thanks for the query.
