I have bought those slipcovers that are just general sizes for chairs or sofas and thought they looked dreadful. I have a Pottery Barn chair that came with a slip cover that looks quite good, but it was made to fit the chair. I recovered a small chair we have that swivels and rocks because I couldn’t find anything new even remotely the same size. It cost an arm and a leg and after fifteen years of kids sadly really could use redoing again.

Add pillow cases for the cushions

Slipcovers - even less expensive ones - are not cheap! You may be able to pick up a gently used couch for same/not much more than slipcovers that may be a hassle to fit right! Then you won’t feel so bad if the dogs make their home on a couch that is not brand new - just new to you!

Thanks for the info and advice. I had been eyeing up some of those inexpensive (one size fits all) slipcovers, but you’ve convinced me it would just be a waste of money. I think I’m going to go for it and have custom slipcovers made. The pieces are still in good shape and comfortable and I feel bad just filling the landfill with it.

One of my kids got a slipcover for the couch. It has separate covers for each of the seat cushions which IMO looks way better than the one piece ones. Kid put new throw pillows on the thing and it looks pretty good. She got it from Amazon.

The covers were adjusted later so the seams looked better. It will work until the kid gets a brand new couch. Which will wait until the one year old pooch doesn’t chew holes!

It looks green, but it’s Grey.

I love the idea of reuse/recovering, keeping furniture out of the landfill. Good luck with it. Report back to us if you think of it after completion.

We finally met with the neighbor who is going to take delivery of our sofa whenever it decides to arrive after we’ve left the cabin. She was lovely, and we are so grateful. She also volunteered to accept delivery for the bed platform that is just as late but, wouldn’t you know it, about two hours after that conversation, we got a ping that the bed is ready for delivery, and I was able to schedule for 11/9. So, we’ll finally be able to stop sleeping on a mattress on the floor. This old body couldn’t take that much longer. :older_woman:

Hoping for some help. Recently got bedroom furniture - a lovely cherry finish. We have the main wifi hookup (router/modem, mesh network), our Alexa, our landline - all of this in the bedroom. Earlier we had all this stacked on top of the chest and I want to avoid doing that. We have about 20" of space next to the chest and I was thinking of a narrow ladder like bookcase or something similar. Anyone have ideas or pointers?

We also need a small table at the entrance of the room to put our lamp on. I was thinking of getting both the bookcase/shelving and this table in black (or maybe white?) - don’t try to match the cherry furniture. Thoughts? Any pointers to nice end tables for lamps would be good too…

I didn’t spend too much time looking and don’t know the space all that equipment would take up but I would want to hide it - not have it out in the open - but provide some “breathing” open space for the equipment - so I was thinking about something like this, a “mesh” door. (I’m not saying I love the way this looks, it’s not the colors you want, etc - just the concept!)

@abasket - nice idea. But for this equipment, I think I really need open shelving/bookcase to make it easier for the wires to run behind. Unless the mesh covered shelf had an opening at the back for the wires.

I have seen many storage units with openings for wires - definitely would be needed!

The problem with media storage with back openings is that they are usually low and wide. Another problem is that the one or two potential towers I found are out of stock. I searched media towers, gaming towers, etc. Try searching media etageres - although hard to find anything 20” wide. For example, this one is 21.75”. Insigna Etagere/Bookcase - Dania Furniture

I will - just met with the seamstress last night and put down a deposit. She’s so backed up with orders she can’t make them until April.

I went with a cream colored fabric. This will be the impetus to change up a few things in the room (area rug, for one) without needing to repaint the walls. I’m excited for a refresh - it’s been the exact same for 16 years.

Might try something like this for my bedroom storage issue:

In the planning stages of kitchen remodel and looking for sink recommendations- I like the long single basin with accessories, not sure what material….any recommendations on brands? Faucets too! TIA

Look into Blanco sinks. We put their composite sinks in our kitchen 4 years ago, and I am still happy with them. Kohler and Elkay make great stainless steel sinks.

I like Elkay sinks as well. That’s what we’re doing in the new house. The kitchen, prep and bar sinks are stainless steel.

I splurged on a Waterstone Gantry faucet (and all of extras) in a mini-refresh of our kitchen in a previous house and regretted the expense. We had a leak in the pot filler from the start and their customer service rep insisted that was impossible. After a lot of back and forth, including photos, they finally admitted it leaked. We later had trouble with the main faucet and had to request a replacement part. Luckily, H was able to make the repair.

One thing I learned from Waterstone was to be aware of finish warranties. Often, only stainless steel and chrome are guaranteed to keep their like-new finish. Others may be considered “living finishes” and will change over time. If you’re okay with that it’s fine, but I’ve read too many complaints from folks who had no idea and are not pleased with how their hardware looks after a year or longer.

I love my Ruvati. It’s stainless steel. It’s similar to this one: 32-inch Workstation Ledge Undermount 16 Gauge Stainless Steel Kitchen Sink Single Bowl - Ruvati USA

Totally agree. We have a Blanco sink also and we love it. Ours is a white Silgranit and very easy to keep clean.

We have a Hansgroh faucet…recommended on some thread here about 10 years ago. It’s the longest we have ever had a kitchen faucet last.
