I’m very happy with my stainless steel sinks. The smaller one is a Ruvati, but not as fancy as the one @momofboiler1 linked to. (Which I love BTW.) My kitchen sink is a big stainless steel farmhouse sink different brand, but can’t remember what it was, a good deal which is why I got it. One bowl very deep. I’ve been very happy with it.
Thanks everyone!
We have a deep Stainless steel sink, pretty sure it’s Elkay. I love having a deep sink.
We will be replacing the kitchen sink in our cabin with a wide, deep, single stainless bowl and a high-arch spring faucet like we have at home. Brands aren’t as important to me as getting rid of the divided bowl and having enough depth to wash a small goat.
Just saw you were also asking for faucets. This is mine and I love love love it. https://www.us.kohler.com/us/tournant-semiprofessional-kitchen-sink-faucet/productDetail/kitchen-sink-faucets/1274493.htm?skuId=1274474&brandId=1304794
Thanks for the recommendations- I went to ABT and think I have the appliances narrowed down but no one was available to help in the sink area- hoping to go to another shop tomorrow but it’s nice to have a few recommendations since there are so many options out there and I find it a bit overwhelming!
Our current kitchen is almost 20 years old and since we’ve decided to keep this as our main residence for the next 5-10 years we thought we’d renovate now , get some enjoyment out of it and hopefully it will still be decent when we do sell it. I may be back with more questions:)
Haha- I love baby goats😀
On the router/modem/etc., I used a fruit craete look alike, so lots of gaps, and hung it on the wall in a room where that vibe worked.
Question please (I hope I make sense):
I call three companies to give me a bid on a project.
Company 1 is thousands of dollars more than 2 and 3 so scratch them.
Company 2 and 3 give me identical information with identical products. Company 3 tells me they are the only authorized dealer of this product in my area.
I go to the website and enter my zip code and indeed company 3 is the one that comes up for my city. I put in the zip code of a town 10 miles away, which happens to be a different state, and company 2 comes up as the authorized dealer for that area.
So is company 2 allowed to bid in company 3’s region?
Until I read the “authorized dealer for that area” I thought I knew the answer.
I am no expert, but you may want to call the home company for product and make sure warranty, etc. are good if you purchase from company 2 in your region.
We came across something similar with TVs (Sony) recently. We found a “great deal” on a TV from one source, but they aren’t authorized by the product company to do business here, so we’d be in trouble if we needed warranty service. Decided not to use them.
Check if company 2 is licensed to do business in your state. And definitely call the maker to inquire. I would also ask both companies for copy of the warranty and local to you references where they installed the product.
Thank you for the replies. I will check on warranty and licensing. I lean towards company 3 for reasons other then their being the authorized one, but that does influence me.
Than not then. I don’t know how to edit.
Any thoughts on spray foam insulation?
Walls or attic?
Crawl space, as part of an encapsulation, just the top above the insulation boards that will cover the cinder block. Thx.
IMO, the downside is the price, but the upside is greater energy efficiency. Also, this would prevent mice and rats from settling in the crawl space.
Thinking of a wine glass rack for the cabinet above the fridge. That space is so hard to use effectively. All of us are tall - if we could install a drawer type wine glass rack, that might work well. Has anyone seen one of these? I found several DIY stemware racks, but they are all stationary, under cabinet.
Alternatively, what do you store in the cabinet above the fridge?
I have an open shelf above the with vertical slots. I store cookie sheets, cutting board, large pot lids and trays in it. I can reach the bottoms and slide stuff out without resorting to a stool. (I’m 5’-6".) I can’t reach the teapots without the stool, but it’s one I only use when there is a crowd.
I like that shelf a lot @mathmom! Can’t change our cabinet - H would have a fit. I did put a plate/tray organizer in there, but it only covers one half of the cabinet. Doesn’t use the depth of the cabinet very well either. I’ve used this to store serving plates/trays - haven’t thought about placing cutting boards/cookie sheets there.
