info stuff: level 5 (3.6 uw/4.1 w), 35 act, rigorous schedule, orm (asian/white), female (kinda) interested in stem (most majors i applied to were linguistics with second choice computer science).
Currently a freshman at USC.
Not gonna lie, I’m loaded as ****. My parents bring an average monthly income of $300K.
I didn’t get any money from any institution I applied to. I think I was accepted solely on the fact that I have loads of money. I wasn’t dumb or anything. I took challenging courses but money saved me the most I’m pretty sure.
Level 5 (Just barely!)
3.5 GPA resoundingly rejected or tenderly waitlisted by every school but one
Waitlist: Pomona
Reject: Harvard, Yale, Stanford, UPenn, Brown
Some other things: Asian male, unconventional (read: risky, but not #BlackLivesMatter 100 times risky [-X), and the law of averages, since I opened my letter en route to the hospital. Car accident. One accident after the other, I suppose. But this is one mistake I’ll be thankful for.
Level 5 [~3.6]
Transfer sophomore transfer student
Accepted: University of Michigan-- Ann Arbor, USF, USD, University of Washington
Rejected: Fosters school of business @ University of Washington (my WSA score was pretty poor but my gpa was a 3.9 (they only take into account certain courses when calculating this gpa) so I might try again in the future with some actually studying next time around)
Waitlisted: None
Waiting to hear back from: USC, NYU
Yes, I did. I think my essays definitely were able to explain why my GPA was less significant to my character as a whole, and what I wanted to do there.
