The identification information for Brown Essay

For the essay requiring you to choose one of three prompts (the one that everyone does), they request that my name, date of birth and home high school be put into the top of the page. My essay is slightly over the 500 word count because of this. Are these considered a part of my total word count? I am applying commonapp so I am still trying to guess their necessity.

I never read that and I submitted without that data. However, i am sure it doesn’t count toward the word limit.

My essay was 550 words and I didnt put that info on top and I got accepted.

You don’t need to put that information at the top. Your name is automatically printed on the top when you upload the document and they print it out.

Don’t worry too much about the word count. I think I had ~650 for the supplement and I got in.

I never saw that and didn’t put any of that on my essay, but I doubt it counts towards the limit. My supplement was around 450 words, and I got accepted, and I know some acceptees with 700 words. It’s not a limit written into stone.
